I got a crazy idea today and Im now considering going to BGW and PKD over a 4-day weekend that I have in October. I'd probably hit PKD on Saturday and head down to do BGW on Sunday. Anybody know how the crowds are at that time of year? Also, can both parks be done in a day apiece? What about Autumn festivities? Does BGW do some sort of Oktoberfest?

I don't know how crowded they will be on those weekends but both parks can certainly be done in a day. Earlier this year I soent 12 hours at PKD and all the rides were closed for two hours (due to weather) yet I still rode every coasters at least once and a couple multiple times (Volcano, FofF, Anaconda, Hurler, Grizzly) plus I rode some flats during the rain.

As far as BGW - it depends on what you went to do. You can certainly get on a the rides but they have great shows (so I have been told) there also. You might not be able to do all the shows and all the rides.

Yeah, Busch Gardens has a a halloween event. Something like "Hall-o-Scream"
And PKD does too.

With PKD, you can expect a <5 minute wait with all of the coasters except:
Shockwave- the line is never that long but the loading speed is sloooow.
Volcano, Flight of fear- expect a 20 minute wait for Flight of Fear, and maybe a 45 minute wait for the volcano.
Hypersonic will probably set you back 45-60 minutes, due to low capacity and high popularity.
Avalanche- usually a 10-15 minute wait due to the low capacity.
Scooby Doo- The one where the families of 10 all go on. Not a very long wait, but defenitley not worth it.

Anaconda, Grizzly, Rebel Yell, Hurler, are the ones with the super short waits.

Busch Gardens is a little iffy though. With all the shows, scenery, rides, and games, it is a great park and you can certainly fill up more than one day there. I haven't been there enough to tell you how long lines are but Alpengeist will probably be the longest, as it's what the coaster enthusiests always talk about.

Well, that and Apollo's Chariot. I was wavering between Holiday World and the Virginia Parks because they are both about the same distance from me, but I have a friend who went to BGW and said it was awesome, so I picked VA.

Thanks for the info...

Scratch that- I think that I'm going to go to Orlando for my fall break and hit the Universal festival.
