I understand I'm now 2 months late on this TR but I just recently came scross this site and this is so far the only trip I have taken in 2004.

Anyway, my dad, my girlfreind, her family, and I arrived at Dollywood a little after 3 so we could get in free the next day where we discovered the only horrible thing about Dollywood. The parking lot. It is incredibly thin and very, very long. I do realize this is because of the mountains but I really didn't like the layout of the parking lot.

After getting our tickets, we all made a rapid walk up the meandering hill to Thunderhead. We got 3 rides on what has to be the best new wooden coaster since 2000. The pacing is second to none and the fun factor is off the charts (for a more detailed description of this and all the other rides, check out my reviews).

After Thunderhead, we discovered another problem with Dollywood, the layout of the park. It is very annoying to hike the entire distance of the park to get from Thunderhead to Tennessee Tornado. I really hope they someday connect Thunderhead Gap and Craftman's Valley to form a giant circle.

Anyway, we decided to get a ride on Daredevil Falls and Blazing Fury on our trip to TT. Both rides were good and were relative walk-ons. We then got a few laps on TT, one of the best Arrow loopers ever before barely squeezing a run on Mountain Slidewinder in before the park closed.

The next day was very similar except there were more crowds and we decided to check out the acrobatics show for Festival of Nations. Dollywood is a very good family park and is downright world class with the exception of the layouts of the park and parking lot.

Sounds like a great trip. Thunderhead looks awsome. I love GCI

yea, watching GCI develop over the years and seeing their coasters just get better and better has me very excited about what's in store from them in the future.
