Note: If you find this review on www.epinions.com, that's because I wrote it.

I don't get to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM or MM) that often. I'm working as a roller coaster operator in South Florida, so I can't really pay for airfare. Instead of making my usual winter trip, I waited three years to go to Six Flags and went on December 31, 2003 on Jet Blue Airways. We stayed at a family friend’s house, the Bescoby’s. Their sons are Christian and Carl (Christian being Zach’s age, Carl being 2 years older). We did a lot and went to the Rose Bowl (game and parade). We played laser tag and ate at In 'n' Out Burger. We made money by betting on horse races, and played on Zach's Gamecube that he brought like nuts. But my all-time favorite part of this 5 day trip was...Jet Blue! I'm only kidding. It was MM.

SFMM is one of the greatest theme parks ever. I am surprised at how much it changed. They added X, Scream!, and Deja Vu. Unfortunately all three of those were closed. X opened up when we were leaving (FU(K!!!!!), but a lot of rides were closed.

Closed Coasters:

Deja Vu*
Flashback*
Superman the Escape
Scream!
X#
Ninja

Note: * Means always closed. # Means closed for part of the day.

How we bought tickets:

We used a special deal to buy tickets online for cheap, so we saved half off. If you want to find out, check out the SFMM site at
http://www.sixflags.com/parks/magicmountain/parkinfo/index.asp?id=parkinfo

We got to the park at about 10:50 EST (I didn’t bother to set my watch back), and there was a line starting to grow. There was some music being played. From here, we could see Flashback, Revolution, Scream, Viper, X, and a bit of Superman. The park finally opened, and it took about another 5 minutes to get in, and about 15 minutes to get the park’s line cutting thing. I believe that we were the only ones in the park that had it.

Fast Lane

Similar to other SF parks which have Q-Bot, and similar to Universal which has Backstage Passes, and similar to Disney which has FastPasses, etc., Fast Lane is a way to cut in line. It is a lot easier because you go in through the ride’s exit. This means that you do get to hold certain riders one more trainload, but if they are p1ssed off, screw them! They should have gotten Fast Lane. ;-). Anyway, it’s just one more ride to wait for, so it’s not like it actually matters. The only downside is that you will get a pass to come back if the line is too long. This happened with Riddler’s Revenge.

Viper

The first ride that we rode was Viper. Viper looks freaky, but it is more painful. Do not be under 5ֹ” or your ears will hurt like hell. It happened to Zach, who was crying in pain when he got off.

Viper’s Description

When you enter the queue line, there are many TV’s that show you some old cartoons that you can’t see due to the oldness of the screens. Just like normal SF lines, there is no theming. Not even a picture of a snake.

Viper is an orange roller coaster with white supports and green trains. Its lift hill is 182 feet above the ground, and it reaches a speed of 68 mph. Viper is the world’s tallest looping coaster. Viper was built by Arrow Dynamics. Viper has 7 inversions. 3 vertical loops, 2 corkscrews, and a double inversion batwing. Viper’s restraints are shoulder harnesses. They are orange.

On Viper, you head right out of the station up the lift hill. You can wave to your chicken friends on the ground, as there is a pause before dropping. You can hear the screams of the riders from on the ground, and when you are riding, it’s no different. You drop with some nice airtime, curving to the left, before heading up a steep incline into the first vertical loop. Your head will be pushed down if you let it happen. I like to let it happen because it is easier than struggling to keep it up. Besides, keeping your head up makes me and other people sick.

You take a 180 degree curve to the left, and head into a

Great job Nemmy 97. A shame you missed some of the closed rides. I also almost flew out between Christmas and New Year's on Jet Blue myself but my friends were out of town. I hope to make it there in October.

The comprehensiveness of your post should count as two or three posts

Yea, this thing took me 4 days to write...well...not 4 straight days or 72 hours...you know what I mean.

A lot of people disagree with my opinion on Psyclone. To anyone who's reading this: Don't argue with me. I may have liked Psyclone, you may have hated it. Woodies are different every day. Maybe I was lucky enough to get it on a good day.

But, hey, it gives a complete description of the open coasters at SFMM.

dude, SFMM needs to get itself together. I'd be pissed if I went there and all of those coasters were closed. Especially X, Ninja, and Superman.

Thanks. On both sites I posted this on I've been getting great feedback. You should go, although it can be very tiring to go around the park, especially since Metro is always closed.

We had to get a pass to come back because of the line, and by the time it would be our turn to leave, we would have already left.
