Hios is my view on the park and rides judging from SAT.

Cyclone- [wood twister] First as allways this coaster is one of the most intense in New England. It wasnt voted The Scariest Coaster in America for nothing! The ending of the ride feels dangerously fast with all of the sharp turns and wood beams flying at you. I just wish SF didnt put on that trim they put last year on The ride, but I suppose If it wasnt there it would be dangerous since the new trains are 10 times heavier than the old ones and at that speed it would tear up the track. You must ride this ride at night it is so wild from start to finish this ride is a frenzy! Not even the turarounds are dull! The best wood coaster in NE hands down!

Superman- [Intamin Hyper] The best Hypercoaster in the U.S so far. The airtime is so plentiful that if you were to re ride it many times like I have, you would be in somewhat an amount of pain. The ride is a must. Why do you think it it is rated above MF? There is good reason. This ride should be called "Sir Air" instead of Superman then people would not get it confused with the other two.

Thunderbolt- [Wood, Figure 8]. This is the most fun coaster at SFNE notice I say fun not intense. Its just that its more of a fun ride than an out of control woodie like Cyclone is but its just as Good as Cyclone in its own way. A must ride When visiting this park. Only 1 train running but its worth it, its a classic.

Flashback- [Vekoma Boomerang], The smoothest and fastest Boomerang Ive ever been on, maybe because its newer? I dont know but If line is long head over to Cyclone which is directly beside it about 6 inches cant miss it.

Mind Eraser- [inverted vekoma hang and bang]. Unfortunatly the smoothness of this coaster is long gone since 1998 now its a rather clunky experience not worth a long wait. But still an intense ride and very fast.

That wraps it up Its a great Park and Im glad to have it as a home park. Call me crazy but SFGADV. has nothing on this place. more coasters doesnt mean better. Its how good they are.

You've summed up my feelings exactly.
Went to SFNE for my last time this season the second weekend before Halloween. It was as if all the rides new it would be my last time till next season and I swear every ride was the best I ever had on each ride.
Cyclone - I hope the management at Six Flags appreciates what they have with this ride. Beyond the fact that it's a true frightener, it's probably the most mportant wood coaster from the 1980's, if only because so few woodies were built in the '80's. I hear it's being retracked for next year. That's fine but Six Flags listen up.... NO MORE REPROFILING! Better yet, bring back the original first drop.
S:ROS - King of New England, and if someone said Coaster King of the world ( as Park World magazine has said two years in a row )then that's just fine with me. I introduced this coaster to 5 friends of mine this past season, each one is addicted, and these are people who haven't been to an amusement park in several years. They're all getting season passes next year - because of this one ride.
Thunderbolt - This 1940 classic has been many people's first coaster. May it stay that way for decade's to come. Love looking down on this coaster from "Scream".
Mind Eraser - I'm really into traditional wood and steel coasters. For me it's all about hills, inversions don't do much for me. Yet Mind Eraser I find to be great fun. I think it's that turn to the right as you drop down the first hill, it always gets to me. Also I love the double in line twist towards the end. Mind Eraser may not be a long ride, but she's short and sweet.
Flash Back - All my friends complained when the "Black Widow" was taken down and replaced with this ride. For me I always felt the Black Widow was cheese (as I feel about all shuttle coasters). But if you're gonna have a shuttle in your park this one is a good choice. Again, I'm not into inversions, but I find this ride to be great fun fairly smooth for this type of coaster.
Well, we have a new coaster coming for next year. Rumour has it as either a Standing or Floorless coaster. Either way I'm looking forward to another great season at Six Flags New England.

Its confirmed its a Floorless coaster. Yes, They should restore the old Cyclone drop by doing what they did to the coaster just shows people how they know jack about maintaning wood coasters.

"they know jack" is an understatement. Here the 2001 season is over and I still can't believe what they did to Cyclone. I know they were having all kinds of trouble with stress from the trains and that curve, but from what I've been told Cyclone was designed with PTC trains in mind so I just don't understand what was going on. All I can hope for is with this expansion they will some day add another big wood twister, I could then forgive them for mellowing Cyclone's first drop. It IS STILL a great ride though. But ahhhhh...
that first drop, there was nothing like it in the world, that curve felt like it would never end. It just goes to show how steel coasters can be more "thrilling" but the right wood coaster with less than half the height can truly scare the s**t out of you.
