I'm visiting Great Adventure in late June. Here are some questions I have about the park.

What rides/coasters should I ride first?
Wich coasters have the longest lines?
What good thrill rides does the park have?
Does the park get really crowded?
Where are the biggest crowds?

Thanks for the help!

As fare as crouds go it's the luck of the draw. but week days are the fafist at any park. Superman will likly be geting the atection so i would sugest takign a right and heading tords B&R the Ciller, Batan TR, i hot stand on the pridg for the water effects, then head to Nitro, the rapids ride is by Nitro so you may want ot check that one out. otu of that end of the park.

Hit Skull Mountain, if you want to hit Lost tresure train(Tivali coaster), further up is the Runaway train, Next up is Madusa( by this point you shoudl have cacht up with any mager lines) wate can be more then a hour. from their you can ride Viper, if desired Rollign thunder (a bad wood coaster butthe only one in the park). you final stop on the coaster quest.

The Amarican Board walk I would grab a snacka nd a frink and head for Superan. the line will likly be long so be prepared. next to supernam Is GASM. afte you've hit the coasters hit the rides.

Good rides. the Gauntlet(( huss frisbie verry well themed)First good ride on your way to B&R), Hudini, Jupn Jack FLash, Stuntman's Freefall, from their most of the rides are traditional and can be found at most SF so pick and choose.

Hit the water stunt show if their doing it that erly, the rest of teh shows arn't that great.

Water rides Teh boast ride at bugs bunny sea prt and the River rapids ride are th eonly really good water rides in the park so make them oyu prioriity. they are located by Nitro.

Bigist crouds are on the Minetrain, Medusa, Nitro, and Likly Suprman. The water rides all have abit of a wait the worst is the flume.

To eat may I sugst the BBQ shack by the flume good ribs and chicken.

If you have triple a go on a wednseday and show them you card. It will save you $15 on you entrance ticket. They have the run of the bull. Go straight for Nitro and and usually you don't need to wait long. After that I would suggest going to batman and robin chiller. Usually then the line isnt to bad. The rest of the rides you can pretty much do whenever you wan't. But go to medusa at the end of the day the line is usually empty and you can get up front. Its amazing. They have a great lunch place to eat at where they have boars head meat and everything. A bit pricy but worth it. In between then go on other rides but I warn you be carefull on the Runaway Mine traing it can hurt.

I forgot about superman. That one will prbobably be crowded all day so you will probably want to hit that one right off the bat.

Superman's new so strategically you have to go to that first. Nitro is fantastic and Medusa is quite good too. If you're pressed for time you can cut Great American Scream Machine - I loved my first ride on it back in '89 when I was 8, but I think that a lot of other good rides have been built since then and you can put it on your "sounds fun" but not your manditory list. Viper could be cut too I'd say, partially because it's a pretty short ride. But hopefully you can ride everything - I've always been able to ride all the coaster at least once and my favorites twice rather easily, but when I go to SFGAdv I usually stay from open to close.

I personaly would use Supermans popularity t my adrantage use the tiem most peaple will be in line for Superman to hit ans many rides with little or no lines. work up a bit of an apitite, grab a drink and snack at the board walk and ge tin lind efor Superman. you'll have time to eat your snack and then get on the ride.

Thanks for all the help! How long is the average wait for Nitro, Medusa, and Batman. I'm really looking forward to riding these coasters.

If you ride Nitro I would actually not wait for the front and ride in the back. The airtime in the back is wicked. Mrceagle had a point, you probably will want to go to superman last and use its popularity to your advantage. Go to Nitro first because that can get a line of up to over an hour. Medusa I have never had a problem with but If you have time I would deffinitely wait for the front. Superman Is something I would do at around 2 or 3 o clock because thats the least busy time in any park.

Do the lines move quick? Does the park get really crowded? If so where are most of the crowds?

The longest line is usually batman and robin chiller. That you can end up waiting over an hour or more. I have never ridden it because of that. But Nitro, batman the ride, and medusa the line moves fairly quick. The only ride that I would wait long for is Superman.

Te lines do move slower on B&R, but worth the waight. I waighted longetsr for Medusa 2.5 hours. 2 hours for Nitro. the lines can get bad depending on the amount of peaple in the park that day.

I would use Superman's popularity to my advantage as well.

After entering the park, head to the right and stay right past the Big Wheel and hit B&R:TC first. This is a shuttle coaster and the line can take forever, so it is best to hit this right away.

Next, head straight to the back of the park and hit Nitro, skipping BTR for now. You should be able to get a few rides on this before some of the crowds start to catch up. Just a warning, this has one of the longest walk-arounds to reride anywhere.

Now head back towards the middle of the park, hopping on B:TR, and then Skull Mountain and Blackbeard.

Now you are along the lake, follow the lake around and you will come to the frontier area. Just do this as a circuit. Ride the Runnaway Mine Train, then head past the TeePee to Medusa.

Once you ride Medusa, head to the right out of the ride's exit, across the bridge to Viper. Viper is right next to Rolling Thunder, which will hopefully be racing again.

Now head back toward the park entrance, which will bring you right past the Boardwalk area. Heading up the Boardwalk, hit GASM, and then finally Superman. That should get you all the coasters.

Now, do another circuit to check out flats and the like. Don't miss the Pendulum, it is hidden behid the Dodgems and is excellent. I would also say to ride Evolution, but alas, it will be gone. There is a Rodeo Stampede ride over by Viper that should not be missed either.

Some general park tips:

Parking here is more expensive then almost any other park at $10, ouch.

Food is also expensive and pretty poor. STAY AWAY FROM THE HOTDOGS. They are the worst I have ever had. You should keep a cooler and hit a Wawa for some hoogies on the way.

There are metel detectors at the gates, so to avoid delays avoid metel.

If at all possible, visit on a weekday. If not, get there early and hit as much as you can in the first two hours. After that, expect to wait an hour plus for every coaster.

Good luck on your trip.

Thanks for the great tips. I'll try using your method. It sounds like a very good plan. Yes I am going on a weekday. Possibly the 27 of June (it's a Friday). Before that were going to Dorney Park and after Great Adventure we'll be going to Hershey.

Go to www.aaa.com. Then enter your zip code and on the next screen it will say join aaa. Go in there and then sign up. In the mail you will get a card. With this card you can order books and stuff on certain states for hotels and attractions. But if you go to six flags a lot you will like this because when you go there just show them your card and they will give you a discount depending on the day. Wednesday is $15 discount and other days are either 5 or 10. But after a while it is really worth it.

I believe a AAA membership is $45. It is worth it, even if you do not travel much since it is good for all kinds of things, and it also provides roadside assistance and towing if you break down.

It looks like you live in Ohio, so if you go to SFWOA even once this season it may be best for you to get a season pass. A SFWOA pass is only $60, and gets you into every Six Flags park, so you save a considerable amount if you combine SFWOA ($40) and SFGAdv ($47). Even just one visit to each of these parks with a season pass saves you $27, and this is not to mention they will also get you into SFDL, SFKK, and SFGAm, all of which are also in your neighborhood.

I already have a pass to Six Flags so going to Great Adventure wouldn't be much of a problem. Do you know if theres discounts to Hershey or Dorney? Like on cans. When I went to Kings Island we purchased discounted tickets at the hotel we were staying at. Do you know if the hotels near Hershey or Dorney have discounted tickets? I appreciate all of your help!

You should switch Dorney and Great Adventure around because Coaster Madness '03 at Dorney is on June 27, and you may want to sign up for that. It will give you all kinds of ERT time on the coasters there, not to mention lunch and a cheaper gate price ($16 cheaper). Here is the link to the flyer:

Coincidentally, the same time you will be in this area visiting parks, I will be in Ohio visiting parks. Kinda wierd?

Well, first you should join ACE, it is a great orginazation, but that aside, you can be in any orginazation and still be allowed to get in on the ERT's.

Here are some links and the membership costs:

ACE $50

Coaster Zombies $15

Great Ohio Coaster Club $20

Mid-Atlantic Coaster Club $15

Western New York Coaster Club $20

All off these clubs have at least a news letter that goes out and most hold at least one event per year and make you eligable for all park events that are restricted to club members, including the Dorney Park event. Most also offer a discounted family membership.

It is worth it wo belong to at least one coaster club, it enables you to meet new people and have a lot of fun, and in the case of clubs like ACE, really get involved in actually saving historic coasters like Leap The Dips or the Giant Dipper. I currently belong to ACE and Coaster Zombies, and plan to join Mid-Atlantic.

Heres some queue details (for weeksdays during the midday)
About Medusa, I always see this line long when i get to it but it's a quick line when they run 3 trains (which is often.) Once the entire queue was filled but ir only took about 45 minutes to get through and on the ride. Okay, for the Chiller, if you see people waiting by the opening to the building, it's about a 45-60 minute wait which isn't bad but it looks like it should be shorter considering the Chillers massively huge outside waiting queue. When it's full just skip it, it's a great ride but not good enough to wait 2 hours in my opinion. Rolling Thunder is always about a 15min. wait. Skull Mountain is about the same when the line starts near the waterfall in the building, which it usually does. Now Nitro, Nitro's line is always packed but with SUF opening they should dim down just a bit. The longest i've waited for Nitro was 50 mins when the queue was filled and people started making their own line outside of it. I was surprised it took that short of time. Scream Machine is usually 10 to 15 mins. As far as flatrides, the Pendulum (a huss frisbee) the Twister (a top spin) and Spinmeister (an Schwarzkopf[!!] enterprise) normally have 10-15 minute waits. The log flume (the sawmill themed one, i forget the name) depends on the heat of course. When it's around 70 expect a 20 min. wait, 80s into 90s is gonna produce a 45 min line. The bad thing is that it's a real boring line. Congo Rapids on a hot day is like 1 hour, on a 70 degree day it's cut in half. Hope that helped!
