Spoilers!

Date: 9/30/05.

Ah, tonight was the night. The night I have been waiting for for the last 11 months came. After months of anticipation and excitement, I was literally bouncing off the walls when Friday, Sept. 30th came along. It was time to head to Halloween Horror Nights: Tales of Terror. I will start it all off by quickly saying the event really lived up to the hype. I will skip the deep story mumbo jumbo and get right into the action with a general overview of the event. The houses were amazing, and the detail that made them so famous was better than ever - and that is especially noticed in Body Collectors. I thought the scare zones were weak compared to the rest of the event, but they were nice anyways. The turkey legs were awesome (only time I get them is during HHN - quick "on the go" food), and the crowds weren't bad at all. I think I should have gone the second day rather than opening night, as there were some times reaching 60 minutes but I think they were a little over than what they really were.

The scarezones were neat. Terra Gaurd Run was at the entrance and it was really lame for the most part, except for the stage that was at the front. It looked down right awesome, and I was impressed by it. Blood Thunder Alley was sweet, mainly since the motorcycles they rode through the area were freakin' awesome looking. They were just insane, and of course there were the dancers up on the pillars at the side. Plenty of chainsaw weilders to go around as well. Cemetery Mines was decent. The costumes for these guys were awesome, especially at night. They wore dark green costumes, then they had masks on that had big blue eyes that lit up, so when walking through the area at nightall you saw were the eyes. They provided good scares, from what I saw. Fire Pits, which I expected to be lame, was ok I guess. Unlike the other scare zones that had some sort of added structures in the area, this one only has costumed people - whom still looked pretty awesome.

Then came the reason we all go to these events, the haunted houses. I will do it in a similar fashion (what I did last year) and rank them, while reviewing them at the same time. Makes it easier and saves a little bit of time for me.

1. Body Collectors - This is where I expected it to be, and this is where it turned out. Since i was expecting so much out of it, it didn't totally blow me away but it was definatly an amazing house. Incredibly detailed, and must have provided many scares. This also had the greatest entrance (later broken by Terror Mines) to a house I have seen. You walked through a green gate, and littered by the entrance were body bags with "bodies" in them. Inside the house, there is only one word to describe it: gore. Example: one room you walked through consisted of two beds, one placed further than the other. Each one had a patient and a "doctor" on/with them. The first one had the patient screaming on the bed, and the "doctor" was litterally pulling his spine through the *front* of his body. Blood was oozing out of the body, and the "doctor" was just laughing. The second bed the patient (maybe victim is a better word?) was screaming as well, except this "doctor" was pulling the insides (intestines, lungs, etc...) out, then stuffing them back in. Except, I could have sworn he took a bite of a lung before putting it back in once... Awesome stuff. Body Collectors: 9.5/10.

2. Terror Mines - I expected a lot of this house since it was being placed in Poseidon's Fury. A lot could be done there and a lot was done for the most part. Well at the time Body Collectors had the best entrance to a house, but the very next one (Terror Mines), beat it. For this house the queue is the queue that you use for Poseidon. Before the direct entrance to the house is the miners hat station. Every 6th-8th person gets one, and you wear it through the house, and the light flickers on and on randomly I believe. Now, you turn a corner and there it is - t

Great trip report. I really enjoyed reading about the details of each house. I will definitely have to build a visit around this to Orlando sometime. How many nights does Universal do this?

Just head here and look at the dates for this year. They are usually pretty similar each year.

Whoo! The photos (and two videos) are here!

The photos don't do the event justice.
