Dorney Park is a very nice, small park with a lot of great rides. Its run much better than Great Adventure since its cleaner, cheaper, and has much better food and ride ops.
Once we got into the park we went straight to Talon, since it was the closest ride to the entrance. We waited about 10 minutes to ride the front row (we got there at 10:30 so very few ppl had shown up yet). Talon was a very fun, forceful ride, that relies on highly banked turns and sudden drops instead of inversions.
We then worked our way across the park to ride Steel Force, a Morgan hyper. Nitro was the first hypercoaster i ever went on, and it lacked airtime which made me think all hypers only had weak "floater" airtime. Steel Force was radically different. I waited 5-10 minutes to get the back row. The airtime was INSANE! i floated all the way down the first drop. The first hill is nice but has nitro's floater airtime, but i was out of my seat for the rest of the ride. the turnaround is a lot of fun, providing some nice laterals and a very good headchopper. After the break run your whipped towards the ground, providing some awesome air. Several bunny hills follow that, providing some awesome air.
I then went to ride Laser. Sadly there's no line for the front row, but i got lucky and they let me ride the front. This coaster is not one to be missed, as it provides a shocking amount of G's for such a small, old coaster.
After Laser we got some lunch, which wasnt too expensive and the food was great, unlike Great Adventure's terrible expensive crap. I had a hot dog, nachos with cheese, and an icee...they were all delicious.
We then went to the water rides so we could digest our food. First we went on Thunder Canyon, a rapids ride. I saw some ppl in front of us in only bathing suits, and they said to us "u know u get wet on this ride, right?" i figured this ride was like popeye at IOA or congo rapids at SFGadv, but i was wrong. I left the ride completely soaked, with my shirt weighing 5 pounds more than it was before the ride.
As we left the ride, I saw a guy yelling for help. We ran over and saw that he was holding on to a woman who had FALLEN OUT of the rapids boat while the ride was operating. He was able to get her out in time, and she was ok. She claimed she hadnt unbuckled her seatbelt, and that she just slipped off of the boat.
After that we went on Wild Mouse. A long ride with lots of turns, brakes, and dips. I found it painful since i had to squeeze into the seat, and during every turn I either hit the side of the car or the bar in between the seats.
Then we went on to Thunderhawk. The ride has some great airtime near the end of the ride along with some great turns and trick track
After that we rerode Talon and Steel Force a couple of times, each time with small lines. Then after a cup of icecream (which was really good) we went to Thunder Creek Mountain. From the looks of it, it didnt seem interesting but surprisingly it was. The final drop was good even though it wasnt very steep.
After riding Thunder Creek mountain twice, we went on Steel Force and Talon a couple of times more before we left the park.
Overall i thought Dorney Park was awesome. Even though it didnt have as many coasters as Gadv, its small size, cheap prices, and great food make up for it. I found it to be a much better experience than Gadv, and i'm hoping to go there almost every year from now on
