What are the the things you consider most when recommending a park to a friend or family member? For instance rides might not be the best to use if they have kids, but the overall attractions in the park might be part of that..

I've got:

1) Attactions
2) Park Value (gate/food/parking)
3) Park Staff
4) Overall Fun Factor of Park

Any others?

I rank parks good if they have:

-Quality customer service
-Decent food
-Cleanliness(Amount of cigarettes on ground, table cleanliness, path cleanliness etc.)
-Ride selection

A good park doesn't have to be huge, have many coasters, or have many attractions...sometimes the better parks are the ones that are smaller and focus mainly on the satisfaction of their guests.

Ok - let's see...in no specific order:

Rides
Ambience
Staff Friendliness
Foods
History
Good Maintenance
Charm - Unique Nature of Park

And so, you see - this is why I constantly recommend Knoebels!

1. Variety of rides
2. Cleanliness
3. Prices/Value
4. Amount of crowds
5. Atmosphere

I wouldn't say staff friendliness because I never really think about the staff... even if they aren't very friendly, it doesn't make a difference to me because I don't interact with them very often. I realize it may be a different case for some people though.

Although I usually don't recomend places to people because I live in Florida, and everybody there knows about the Orlando Parks and BGT, and I haven't recommended BGW to anyone because most Floridians are under the impression that BGT is the only Busch Gardens (ironically it's the worse of the two)

I think that a park has to have a great environment to maximize the effect of a park's rides. This includes setting, landscaping/scenery, food, cleanliness and staff behavior/attitudes. All of this can make even a mediocre thrill park a great one.

I like BGT.. though I"m only about 20 mins from it. Montu and Kumba alone are worth a visit TBO.

I think your choices are pretty good there Mark. The only thing I would add is atmospere. It kinda represents how you feel when you are visiting a certain park. For instance, the atmoshere of a park like IoA feels as if it takes you to a totally different world. The atmoshere of Kennywood is one of history, you are in the park your parents would have visited at your age. Both are good, but both are diffent.

Attractions: (judged on two criteria: thrills and variety of rides)
Value: (four factors contributing: gate, parking, food, souvenirs)
Cleanliness: (in 4 areas: restrooms, food places, pathways, ride queues)
Park Staff: (3 criteria: are they helpful, are they energetic, do they keep the rides running)
Atmosphere: (crowds, attitude of other guests, history, landscaping/theming)
Fun Factor of the Park: the big intangible

1. Attractions (mainly coasters)
2. Atmosphere/Fun factor (I kind of associate these two together)
3. Landscape
4. Cleanliness
5. Park staff
6. Value (I rarely purchase anything but a ticket and a souvenir from any park I go to, so this doesn't rank too high)

1. Park Atmosphere
2. Ride Selection (Like mentioned, you don't need zillions of coasters to be a good park)
3. Ride Quality (Yeah, you have 70 rides, but are they good?)
4. Cleanliness
5. Value for money spent?
6. Staff Quality (Are they helpful? Are they pleasant? Do they keep lines moving efficiently?)
7. Food (Hey, you gotta eat!)
8. Landscaping & Theming (Trees a must!)

chill! its kinda hard to just base it on 5 things.....i mean it IS an amusement park, there are so many aspects to it. and if it bothers u so much just look at the first five choices of a persons list.

roller coasters
densely populated with trees (hate it when it's hot)
food needs to be good
the flats need to be up and running, cause it bugs me when they're broken down. they also need to be good flats.

and, this sounds really weird, but the park needs to have a ferris wheel and a tilt a whirl.
