Ok. I hear that the restraints for Mantis are not exactly the easiest to get into. Since I missed it the last time I went to Cedar Point 4 years ago and am going back this year, I was wondering. Exactly how do you get into one of those restraints and are there any "tips"...a male...about standing correctly?

Umm, whats so hard about getting into them? As for the "bicycle seat", don't raise it higher than you're able to stand, it can also be used for sitting. If you need help getting in, ask one of the ride operators. Trust me, Mantis is much more easier to get into compared to a TOGO stand up which has only a bar and OTSRs.

You get on the bicycle seat and pull down the OTSR. Pretty easy if you ask me.

Keep your feet flat and your heels against the back as the rise operator instructs you and you won't have a problem. People think bending their knees when they set the height will help them. Then the foolish don't have a proper base and just makes your "boys" bang into the seat when your knees buckle.

So the bicycle seat is supposed to "separate" your legs? That's what I'm getting at, Red.

Yeah, I guess so. It's just like sitting on a bike, except you're standing.

Ok Thanks. It just looked really strange...like there was so many things you had to do. When I saw it, it looked like you had to:

1. Pull the armrest thing down
2. Push the bike. seat down far enough (and have time to test for the right height)
3. Pull the restraint over
& 4. Buckle a seat belt to the OTSH...

all in like 1 1/2 minutes or however long they allow you to fiddle with the restraint systems until everyone is secure. Looked like a lot of work.

It's really not. You have nothing to worry about. It's a fairly simple process that takes no more than a few seconds, and the ride operators don't rush you, or at least they never did it to me.

It is true that it takes little longer the load each train than a typical ride.

larrygator- No, its not really true. Also a tip- don't jump up and down like a nerd having the whole thing up and down because I have seen some idiots do that only for the ride op to lock it and them having there feet not touching the floor.

I bet that hurts, for guys at least. Doing the whole ride with your feet off the ground.

when I was there in May, I rode Mantis about 6-7 times and everytime it took at least two minutes to load. Everytime to ride operator had to unlock at least one row and relock it because someone was not following instructions. By the end of the trip, my brother-in-law and I were making bets as to which row would be causing problems.

It does take longer to load a stand-up train because of everyone that doesn't know how to do it, or get it stuck in an uncomfortable position and they have to unlock, relock, and check all over again.

The only stand-up coaster I've ridden (Mantis was closed on my trip to CP) is Skyrider @ PCW, which was built by TOGO. That thing, to say the least, was very painful on my legs and...other places...

I've never been on a standup, but if I do, I'd guess my first will be Georgia Scorcher because it's like 5 hours away

If you thought Skyrider was painful, Mantis doubles the pain on the legs.

I've been on RR and Iron Wolf. Iron Wolf is very rough in any row but the front, but it was built in 1990. RR is very smooth. Neither hurt my legs, but they did apply a good deal of pressure to them.

Yup...Skyrider was a bit too intense for me. One of the few flops at PCW

Most of the coasters at PCW are "flops". I hope by "flops" you mean garbage.

Yeah, a lot of the coasters at PCW are average to say the most. But rides like Skyrider and Dragon Fire are just garbage. The only coaster that I really liked there was Wild Beast. I found the rest to be quite un-original.

Since we're discussing stand-ups, I think they should add an inclined loop to sit-downs, floorless, etc.

Wild Beast can be found in other Paramount Parks, as well as the park in Australia. The only original coaster that stands out from the rest is MCMB. Dragon Fire was probably a big hit back when it was first introduced to the public, but now it's horrible, and really needs work. Hopefully the park will add that rumored hyper very soon, they desperately need it.

the thing about the incline loop is that they're much more cool to look at than actually ride through...its basically no different than any other regular vertical loop...but it does add to the layout appearance

I actually do notice the tilting on inclined loops, but that's just me, we all have different tastes and ride experiences. Some of us love Demon, others, well...

Why haven't they added a hyper yet? I've been wondering for years! The tallest coaster there is probably Top Gun, which is 110 ft or so. (At the most)
