ht, if you like Micheal Caine, you've got to see "Shiner." It's right up there with "Raging Bull" in my book.

i am a michael caine fiend! older ones, though, mostly. "sleuth" is just him and sir l. olivier in one room for the whole movie...very funny but also intense.

back on topic- wiener looping is one of the greatest coaster names i've ever heard. that and sasquatch are great and catchy coaster names.

other names- i find cedar point names are pretty bad. magnum XL200, not very good. millennium force is terrible. raptor is awful. mean streak i like a lot...that's the best one (name!) they have over there.
others-
nitro is ok, basically not so good. rampage is very good. tremors i like a lot. shivering timbers is a great name. hades is good. great white is awful. the great nor easter...huh? medusa...not too good. storm runner...actually ok. great bear...bad. super dooper looper...i actually like that one. phoenix...i like a lot. the voyage....ew, man, looks like a really cool coaster, awful name. X...i really dislike that one. laser... pretty good. hurler...ugh, awful. alpengeist...i like that one. raging bull..... not so crazy about. j2... we all agree, terrible. i dislike all superhero names for coasters.

i have a few suggestions of my own. any parks reading this can contact me-
"the route canal" "the litigator" "nerd inverter" "the crazed baboon" "the trephine" "the muscle spasm" "electro convulsive therapy" and "the expenditure."

ok. bed time. sorry everyone for this post which i hesitate to post but i will....right ........now

J2(jakerabbit 2) at clemonton. they called in Sunami at first and they got to much bad press do to one that hit 3 months after it opened. the replacment name is jsut dumb since the origanal Jackrabbit is SBNO.

^it doesn't really roll off the tongue. kind of wintery, not very beach-y. avalanche is also cold-sounding, and they don't have mountains in wisconsin, but i like that one, so i guess it's just a matter of taste. let's see, "the tropical depression" would be seasonally appropriate for wild wood, but not very catchy.

for a ride such as the nor easter i suggest "the chiropractor's predecessor."

Tropical Storm sounds a little catchy though

I kind of like Great Nor' Easter myself. Like you said though, it is all about taste. I never thought of it in such a way though.

The most disgusting coaster name is MONTEZOOMAS REVENGE. (Thats a crappy name) If Hershey Park installed a launching shuttle loop they could name it the "Hershey Squirt"

Scream! is also horrible. Six Flags put basically no thought into the name. I like their more unique names like Tatsu and El Toro.

My vote for "Worst Coster Name" is Zipper Dipper at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Another oddball name is Cornball Express at Indiana Beach (great coaster, not-so-great name).

Easily Hypersonic XLC. Do you know that Hypersonic is the only coaster with "hyper" in it's name, and it is not actually a hypercoaster.

I, for one, do not like some of the newer coaster names that are so long. I don't like when a coaster has something like Volcano: The Blast Coster or Top Gun: The Jet Coaster or Outer Limits: Flight of Fear or Magnum XL 200 or Italian Job Stunt Track. I like the old simple names like Anaconda, Mantis, ect.

I am also not in favor of a lot of BGT's names. Python and Scorpion are fine, but Kumba, Montu, and Gwazi all sound the same, becasuse they are in some other language which us Americans no nothing about.

Six Flags uses too many repetitious names in my opinion. Why so many Superman's and Batman's it's confusing to keep them all straight. I like Cedar Fair, Paramount,Busch Gardens and Walt Disney names they are unique and well thought out. Also I think it's dumb to name a coaster roller coaster. Use your imagination and think of something different or take a poll when picking a name and offer a prize or something.

I think the Rainbow Chaser at Gayway is pretty darn funny. Although, when it was around I doubt anyone blinked. The Screaming Squirrell is pretty bad too.

Ditto all the Six Flags repitition. Why can't some of the other super heroes get some coasters? DC has some other recognizable names other than Sup and Batman. What about Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, the Flash etc.

I recently blogged about coaster names:

I've probably said it before, but Seaside, NJs Funtown Pier has a little Pinfari single loop coaster named:

Roller Coast Loop

what?!

I have wondered this myself. Batman was a popular name because of all the movies over the past 15 years and Superman is considered the greatest of the superheroes. But give the other Justice League members some love.

At least I see SFGAdv calling their Fast Pass lines Flash Pass

They should make a ride called the Hershey Squirt, i think a lot of people would ride it, and they should make it like the tallest, fastest and scariest coaster into the world, so it would live up to its name, making its riders crap themselves.

I must say, one of the worst IMO is the Hurler. I'm sorry, that's not intimidating, just...yuck.
and for the record, the ride doesn't live up to its name.

Also: Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Splash Mountain. Someone's REAL creative, and last I checked, Florida was pretty dang flat...go figure.

The other thing I think is stupid is that alot of the Schwarzkopf Wild Cat Models are named Wild Cat even though most of them have Car themed cars...

Most do, yeah. Though the Wild Cat at Keansburg Amusement Park in NJ has cars themed as rolling coaster vehicles with flourecent fire on the sides. Still...not close to a cat by any means.
