I dont think superman is that bad of a name for a coaster espically if thats the theme, but Im getting pretty tired of Six flags constantly naming every single coaster after him, example superman ultimate flight, superman the escape, superman ride of steel ect ect... or batman this or batman that. One is enough, why cant they come up with something differnt and unique, its getting way too confusing. There I said it now I feel better.

You're aboslutely right about Six Flags overusing the Superman and Batman names. It's a little ridiculous after a while. That's why I like the name of the Incredible Hulk at IoA. The most ridiculous thing was when they named three coasters Superman:Ride of Steel. Are they retarded?

The best coaster in the world should have its own name for god's sake!!!

I too voted for Renegade. Storm Runner is alright but kind of random. Steel Stampede is downright awful. It sounds too cartoonish.

The name Renegade would fit in better with the old west themeing.

Storm Runner was the name I picked, it sounded like a wild stallion to me which the ride is...well...sort of themed as...

The worst names ever though:

Looping Coaster - Funtown Pier
Boomerang: Coast to Coaster (what the hell kind of name is that?)
Rollie's Coaster - Morey's Piers
Star Jet - Casino Pier (took it from the incredible Jet Star that used to reside in it's place)

Canobie Coaster

I find that Morey's Piers have been coming out with some really bad names lately. The RC-48, Doo Wopper, and the Rollies Coaster all are very bad names. I like original names, better than common ones like Wildcat, Corkscrew, Mad Mouse, Wild Mouse, Runaway Mine Train, Twister, and Tornado.

I don't really think you have to look much further than the ride that I was just on Friday night: J2 at Clementon Amusement Park.

That really is bad, both Borg and J2. I assume J2 means Jackrabbit 2 but still...RE-NAME IT!

If there was a coaster named Sasquatch, no one would complain

OK, since you seem to be so intent on seeing a Sasquatch-named ride:

Yeah, that is what it means, but they already renamed it from Tsunami so I don't think that they would rename it and have it have 3 names in three years.

Oh yeah, and why would that be a good suggestion for the new SFOG coaster when it is going to be named Goliath? That would really confuse people.

additionally, regarding this thread, i don't agree that cornball express is a bad name. it's kinda hard to get your head around what they're getting at, but nonetheless curious and pretty good IMO.

I would...I would in a second, I don't care!! I would name it something so good that people would forget it was even called Tsunami and J2.

In all seriousness, I think the park has more things to worry about than the name of their coaster.

They are in very bad financial trouble and could be forced to close their gates after this season, until they find new management. They already cancelled their last month and a half of the season, including their Halloween festivities. Labor Day weekend will be their last weekend of operation, but there will be an ACE event on September 10 that is open to everyone, so if you get a chance to go to that I would highly recommend it.

Clementon is up for sale again. I pray that it does not close. I wish I had the money to buy the park, if I could, then I would. But that just will not happen. With Clementon in such bad shape, I decided to make what possibly could be my 13th (uh-oh) visit of the season and possibly my last visit to Clementon ever over Labor Day weekend instead of Trimper's like I orginally intended. I have talked to a few employees and none of them have said a word abut the park closing, but they mentioned that many employees are leaving and they have been short on workjers toward the end of the season. I guess that the employee shortage contributed to Halloscreams being cancelled. Hopefully, I will be able to return to the park next season, but who knows.

hercules or penquin- could you give me and others some more info about the ace event? i'm not an ace member but i'd like a turn or two on j2 this year in case they close. i wanted to scramble up there this week, but it will be tough to fit in. i'd rather chill this week and go the 10th. going labor day also seems good for me. penguin, what are the crowds like labor day? what about turnpike traffic? i'll be coming from just down the road in baltimore.

I can't help you with the turnpike. I do expect the park to be pretty crowded this upcoming weekend. I don't know much about the ACE event, you can ask Hercules about that.

Here is the information that I got via email from the crew at Coaster Zombies from the ACE NJ regioners...

If you haven't heard yet, the details about the ACE NJ Region event at
Clementon Amusement Park, with ERT on J2, is now available on the region's web
pages. You may recall that there was a problem with the original date (17
September) and that we had to make sure enough of people were interested in the
event on the *new* date to move forward with the plans.

The event is ON for Saturday, 10 September 2005. All the info that you need
is on the flyer on the NJ Region web site. Here's the URL:

_http://home.ix.netcom.com/~dooley7/index.html_
(http://home.ix.netcom.com/~dooley7/index.html)

Click on 'Newsletters & Flyers' on the main menu, and then on the event
flyer (it's a PDF file so you'll need Acrobat Reader). You can read or print
the flyer. Directions to the park are available on Clementon's web site:
_http://www.clementonpark.com/directions.html_
(http://www.clementonpark.com/directions.html) .

As you'll see on the flyer, we request that you let us know if you plan to
attend by Saturday, 3 September 2005. Email is preferred. Please reply to
both of us: _danaschwartz@optonline.net_ (mailto:danaschwartz@optonline.net)
and _jkthree@optonline.net_ (mailto:jkthree@optonline.net) .

You may bring as many friends or family members as you wish, but remember:
J2 riders must be 50 inches tall.

Hope to see you on September 10th!

It all sounds like a good little event. The date was changed from the 17th, I'm guessing to let the park close earlier. I just think it is really great that the park is letting the enthusiasts do this.

Of course, I won't be able to make it because of prior engagements, just like I wasn't going to be able to make Pitch Black ERT or Oc-Boulder-Fest. Oh well though, I hope some of you get to make it.

I agree with GAZZA that Rita is pretty bad, but at least it's associated with a Beatles' song that has staying power. Italian Job: Stunt Track, however, besides being a stupid and unwieldy name for a roller coaster, is named after a totally forgettable movie and already makes the coaster seem embarrassingly dated. BORG Assimilator I actually like as a name. After all, what could be a more appropriate theme for a major corporate amusement park ride than something stripped of its individuality, independence, personality, and self-identity? I also like how it mixes Trekkie iconography with the roller coaster format to create the perfect storm of nerdiness.

timberman- the original italian job with michael caine is fantastic! that, along with "get carter" is the second brilliant late 60s M.C. flick to get a bland remake recently. just awful. lazy, lame hollywood, choosing old british movies to remake 'cause they know most americans have never seen them. thing is these remakes always flop!

sorry for OT. no more i promise.
