I'm not sure if anyone's going to read this, but I'll post anyway: the Sahara hotel & casino, home of Nascar Cafe, announced today that it will be closing on May 16th. No word yet on what will happen to Speed the Ride. More info about the Sahara's closure at link:

Too bad, as Sahara is one of the last remaining historic hotels on the Strip, and at least on the outside appears to be pretty well-maintained. I was just in Vegas earlier this week, and was looking forward to riding Speed, as it is the newest, fastest, and cosmetically in the best shape of the 3 coasters on the Strip. Unfortunately, I waited until the last day of my trip (Tuesday) to ride it, and to my great disappointment discovered that it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This is the only major attraction I encountered in Vegas that is not open at least 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. I was baffled about this at first; now I understand why...

Really sticks, I never got on the coaster. not sure if it would get moved.
