Hi everyone,

This juicy tidbit just came up. SeaWorld has been promising a summer opening for its new flying coaster, Manta. Looks like they are keeping their word and tyring to get the Memorial day crowd as well.

May 22 is the date.

First off, welcome to the site! Thanks for posting this...I had been wondering when they were officially going to open Manta. Attracting the Memorial Day weekend crowd will be a strong move, I think...I know from experience that that weekend can be the busiest of the year for some institutions (namely Brookfield Zoo where I work).

^ As long as you're with them and they behave themselves in our store, we'll be happy to have you.

That would be great...I don't know if you have been to the zoo before, but I think that it is one of the finest in the U.S. (not that I've been to a ton of them, but a handful). Keep me posted on the trip...I can let you know if I'm working that day, and maybe even help you guys get some free vouchers for things in the zoo, etc.

^My students are almost always well behaved due to the fact that they actually like me and I enjoy doing things like this with them. I have been to about 40 zoos and Brookfield is one of my favorites due to its size and how solid the attractions are. I believe it could use a more standout attraction, but it has been at least 5 years so I am really looking forward to it. Any help would be appreciated, but definately no expected.

I'm a bit surprised they are waiting that long to officially open it. I guess they will have a long soft opening.

It is strange why they would wait so long. The current economy and operating costs could be to blame...

Possibly. If they are running it on a self opening they can only open it when they feel like it.

Isn't Rockit supposed to open around then as well? Maybe they want to open Manta at about the same time to take some of the thunder away from Universal.
