Roller coasters are labeled "bad" for the most part if they are rough and knock you around, but what is worse then a rough coaster then one that is maybe rough but the layout just sucks and no amount of re-tracking can help it. In short, what coasters have you ridden that have such a bad layout re-tracking won't even help.

I nominate Racer at Kennywood. It is lovely that it is only one of 3? of these style racing coasters in the world, but other then the ejector air for the back seat occupants on the last jump before the break run, it's all just mild speed and a few not too forceful turns.

Prefabricated Track is for people who can't handle a real wooden coaster.

Hercules had a bad design, but it was fun because of it I think. I mean, 150 foot drop in a flat turn? That's novelty right there! Those slow overbanked turns were also a nice little addition. lol

My vote goes to Viper at SFGAdv though. It was badly designed when SFGAdv decided to rush it's construction and ordered to hack off some of it's track. (That's the popular story at least) It then resulted in a rough ride due to badly mashed transitions leading to the wheels being eaten up on a daily basis.

I have heard bad things about Mean Streak, Obviously Rattler was very poorly designed.

Excellent vote, Rich. The first drop was great, but the rest of the hills have no concept of "steep," and the speed created on the first drop really doesn't carry over for the remainder of the ride.

The Roller Soaker is poorly designed in my opinion because of the wretched capacity and the ride broke down often (no clue if that is because of the ride itself or maintenance troubles). The Dragon Coaster also has a promising layout, but the ride unfortunately doesn't provide really any air-time.

The worst coaster design I've been on's Steel Force. It just seems that other than the first drop (which kinda leaves you hanging for a second or two at the top anyway) & a couple of camelback hills, the rest of the ride's just too simple & mundane. If the MCBRs weren't there, the ride would be so much better, but it seems like the more times I've been on it, my overall coaster experience diminishes. There just isn't that one element that sticks out for me.

I certainly have to disagree with you about Steel Force. That has a very good layout that provides some outstanding air-time. I do agree that the ride would be better without the MCBR, but even with it Steel Force gives a top-notch ride.

The layout of Steel Force is pretty straightforward I think. But I really don't think it's a bad design because of it. If the trains rolled over hills at a low speed and the helix crushed riders to the side, then I'd say it was a bad design.

My nomination would go to Pegasus at Mt. Olympus. It looks like a neat little junior wooden coaster, but it just sort of tools along without generating any forces or interesting moments. I'm more averse to boredom than roughness, so coasters like Hercules and Viper, while certainly not well-designed, at least strike me as being interesting.

Count me as a fan of Steel Force. It's layout is pretty elementary, but it's decently forceful, fun, and extremely rideable.

GAdv's Viper was indeed an interesting coaster with it's hangtime rollover and that odd heartline roll that pulled riders off the seat.

Although I never rode it, I'll nominate Pysclone, for the obvious reason, perhaps Flashback.

I'm going to go with how Outer Limits: Flight of Fear at Kings Island ran in its first season. Yes, the lapbars greatly improved the ride, but the OTSRs made this ride just plain AWFUL. And the thing ran extra bumpy in its first season. My mom actually got whiplash on it. No joke.

Yeah Roller Soaker is a horrible coaster, PERIOD. All I have to say, is Hershey used to run 7-8 cars when it first opened, but had to drop to 6 cars, because of maintenance issues. The ride is a piece of crap, it breaks on average 2 times a day, not to mention that it ruins the ride operators shoes . Just not a good ride, to ride or work at.

I really liked Roller Soaker. I think it's one of Hershey's better coasters. But I'm not a fan of Hershey, and it was disgustingly hot when we visited.

I think I'm mostly bitter that we only spent 2 hours at Knoebels so that we could hit Hershey in the same day. I wound up liking Knoebels a lot more than Hershey, which wasn't as good as I remembered.

I really have no idea what people could find wrong about Hershey. It has good operations, good food, varied coaster lioneup, clean and a decent price.

I didn't try out the food as I usually avoid theme park food. I found the coasters to be highly unimpressive on average. Maybe I was just completely underwhelmed with the Comet after riding the Phoenix a few hours earlier. None of the coasters really blew my socks off. I liked SR, LR, and Roller Soaker, but I didn't love them. The park is nice, but not BGE or Dollywood nice. I dunno. It just had a throughly generic feel to it that I can't quite explain. Knoebels is so much more my forte. Though I'm definitely going back to Hershey now. Fahrenheit looks amazing.

I agree, I don't think HP's coasters are all that great, good, but not great. Although I will say SR is my favorite, nothing like riding before and after the park open/closes. Especially because I don't have to wait for the front seat =). Anyway Farenheit does look awesome, hopefully I'll be one of the first to ride it, and hopefully I'll get to operate it.

I am sure I will get ripped for saying it, but Drachen Fire was horrible. I remember how eager I was to ride it. After all the wait, it just disappointed and left you with a headache. If the trains had been reconfigured to get the shoulder restraints out, it might have worked better...But BGE has recovered nicely since with Apollo, Alpengiest and now Griffon.

I had heard that Drachen Fire was poorly designed, especially the diving corkscrew halfway down the first drop that was quickly removed after it opened. Most Arrows are rough, but I definitely had heard a lot more complaints about Drachen Fire's headbanging than on other Arrows.
