No I don't, again look at what is happening at Joyland in the same state. Again, who is going to want to buy a park that failed in 60 days, in Kansas. Our country can't support all of these parks, so parks that are not maintained or have poor business plans will not be succesful.

Here's the main thing to Consider. and yes having a pore Business plan and Money set up ahead of time is likely a big factor. if it didn't rain nearly all of the first 2 months do you really think it would have closed like it did?

I agree that the park may have opened a bit big for it's Britches. It Opened with something like 5 rides not operating. maybe they should have waited to get those upland running before opening. There was no trees or landscaping at the park yet. That was do to the unusually bad weather. but waiting and opening later may have made a big deference. The creditors would have likely worked with him more for that 2 months if he didn't open.

When SF uses the weather excuse everyone laughs. This is no different, poor weather is part of the industry.

Yes it is And I under stand when SF uses it I'm just sic of hearing it over and over again. At least this year they said what parks were affected by the weather and What they figured they lost because of it.

Well if you are sick of hearing it from one then that should be for all. Look he tried and failed, thats life. 90% of businesses fail, if it was easy we would all own our own business.

But life would be a lot easier.

I don't like hearing it from any park personaly I think they should have delayed opening. Bad weather was there before it opened and predicted after opening.

Yes you might.

Great American Family Parks, also based in Santa Monica, is a relative newcomer to the theme park business. It purchased Pine Mountain Wild Animal Safari near Atlanta two years ago and has an interest in Wise-Kids Play Parks, an interactive educational park in Hong Kong.

There is also another nibble but no Offer. no word on who the other company is.

Even though I will be shocked if ANY park is succesful in that area I would much rather be wrong on this argument and have a park out there, then be right with no park.

One of the Occasional Areas were I agree with you fully. this is a difficult area to Operate a park. weather was exceptionally bad this year but it's not an are that is free of Troublesome weather. Hopefully under new management it can Expand to a park worth traveling to. that will Greatly help in the parks Success.

The more and more I look at it, I am starting to think that it may have been a poor business plan. I'm starting to think he was trying to build Rome in a day. There was a concert series every saturday night during the summer, there were two education days in september. Although once again, Walt Disney was said to have had a bad business plan by some.

I'm thinking back to the old Six Flags America, not Adventure World, but Wild World. It was a nice water park (much cheaper to build than a theme park), however, the rides were nothing much to speak of, other than the Wild One Coaster. It was a bunch of rikitty old carnival rides, I remember the bumper cars, the entrance was gravel, and there was no quene space. But, the park was successful, and before long started adding rides like Mind Eraser, at a cost of $7 million, and then it started themeing itself.

Maybe the park still would have failed if they followed Wild World's example, but it surley wouldn't be in as much debt.

You may be right there were a hand full of wrong moves made. The ride Count was Higher then I woudl have gone for first year around. The Shows while Impressive were likely a bit overboard for a first year of operation. The themeing was good and there were some good rides. they should have introduced the park and the bas rides and tried to really wow them in year 2.

Parks America will be looking at Wild West World today and tomorrow to see if it's worth buying. However, they're racing against the clock as the bankruptcy court officials would like the park sold by Labor Day.

There was no offer for Wild West World so the park's fate will be in the court's hands. Parks America said that to finalize their offer of $12 million they will need until at least the end of September. Sadly, the banks don't seem patient with the park.

Thankfully the bankruptcy court has decided to keep Wild West World's rides where they are for now. The new deadline for selling the park is September 29th. Hopefully Parks America can come through and save this park.
