I'll refrain from proselytizing and simply note that the link below contains great deals on tickets to Busch Gardens.

https://secure.nraila.org/buschgardens.aspx

If any Capital area TPCers want to form a posse on this, I'm all ears.

^ That's what I'm saying, man. We just grabbed four of them. Hell, if the DNC were selling tickets to SFNE at less than half price, I might grab some of them, too.

Yeah, I certainly wish that I had seen this offer before I went to BGE a few weeks back. And I don't really like the NRA.

Look at it this way. The NRA is going to sell out all the tickets and make their money. You might as way save money, versus an NRA member.

OK, the logic is a little flawed!

All I can say is you can have my heavily-discounted theme park tickets when you pry them from my cold, dead hands.

^see if chuck will take advantage of his own discount and join you at BGE. first, get him medically cleared (EKG. blood pressure, lipids etc) at that nursing station we got railroaded to on griffon media day. then, onto apollo's chariot for a ben hur reenactment.

I'd certainly take their discount, even if it means giving money to the NRA. I work with a few members, and my distaste for the NRA stems largely from that. I once overheard one of them say something like "Guns are as much of a part of my life as air." Why don't we test that contention by seeing which he can live without longer.

Also, hearing them screwing off, loudly parroting the same talk radioesque platitudes EVERY DAY FOR THE LAST 7 YEARS while I'm trying to get some work done (or screw off quietly on the Interweb) doesn't endear me to the cause.

Is it entirely rational to discredit an entire movement for the actions of a few lone members? No, but I've found that there are no shortage of these guys, wanting to talk for hours on end about guns whether you give a crap or not. I don't carry on at work about the latest coasters I've been on, because I know most people don't care.

But yeah, I'd take their 50% off tickets without blinking. Busch Gardens single day tickets cost almost as much as Six Flags passes that let you into all their parks for the entire year (if you buy at the right time).

I'm actually surprised that Busch would associate themselves so closely with a group like the NRA. A lot of corporations go out of their way to avoid getting that political. I guess they figure that the guns and the beer go together.

L-Gat, let me know when you're headed this way. Based on the storm troopers traver and I ran into last time, line-jumpers should be the least of anyone's worries at BGE.

Oh, and hrry, don't forget we still have to redeem those snack vouchers.

Timberman - I will probably be using them for Sea World Orlando or BGT in October or Sea World San Antonio in April.

Would they work for Howl-o-Scream?

^not sure, does BGT even charge seperate for the Howl-o-Scream event? I thought it was treated as a standard operating day as far as admissions (unlike HHN or Knotts Scary).

I'll have to look. Last year I bought tickets to Howl-o-Scream only, I think. But they may include it with a day ticket as well. I went to HoS last year, and really enjoyed riding Montu and Kumba in the dark. Montu is amazing at night.

Ginzo - just found out that the all day ticket for BGT does not include H-o-S. Therefore, My guess is that the NRA tix would not be good for Howl-o-Scream.

My tickets just arrived today and state that they are "good for one day admission to any one of the [Busch Garden parks] during regularly scheduled operating hours" but that they are "[n]ot valid for special events." What that means, I don't know, but they actually contain a lot less restrictions and fine print than I expected.

Incidentally, does anybody know of any deals on Dollywood tickets? I was told that I could have two for free if Momma Timbers and I attended a 90-minute sales pitch for timeshares in Gatlinburg, but between the mailings I'd be getting from that and the NRA, I would have to rent a PO box and buy an industrial strength shredder (although I of course eagerly parse all NRA literature).

Thanks Larry! Last year I googled some discount code for University of South Florida (code: USF), which got us into HoS for like $25 each. USF is incidentally right across the street from BGT.

Timbers I've found that discount Dollywood tickets are hard to come by. Season Passes seem to be the way to go for multi-day excursions to Dollywood. Last year they had some deal where if you bought a single day and came after like 3 PM, you could come the entire next day.

Don't bother with that timeshare seminar Timbers. They're SERIOUSLY low balling you on that. A lot of those timeshare scam seminars will give you vacations in Florida for sitting through a two hour pitch. So, for them to try to offer you mere theme park tickets is a real joke.

Here's a trick for those time share seminars that comes from my boss, an inveterate abuser of them. Often times they'll try to hold you past the amount of time they originally stated so they can hit you with more hard sell tactics. They do this by withholding whatever gift they've promised you. All you do is stand up and tell one of them quietly that if they don't give you what they promised (tickets, vacations, etc.) that you're going to shout out to the entire room that they're lying about the free gift and this whole seminar is one giant scam. Rather than risk losing a room full of marks they usually just give you what they're supposed to and let you leave.
