Because they are paying at least 1,000 just for a plane ticket and there are at least 50 parks that are better and mor well known. If AA was close to another attraction I can see it, but the cost is just to great. And definately not enough to honestly say we need to add this ride to attract the foreign crowd.

Those are all good choices. I was thinking the other day that they could invest in smaller, less expensive coasters to build more interest and the coaster count and then invest in the large coasters that will draw people from other countries.

I think their main focus now is the family and water fans. I'm sure if they continue to be successful, they will begin focusing on those thrill seekers like many of us here.

ok, now I see where the misunderstanding came from. I wasn't talking about just ONE coaster being good enough to attract out-of-country guests, notice I said, ". . .they could invest in smaller, less expensive coasters to build more interest and the coaster count and then invest in the large coasters that will draw people from other countries."

I did mention it in terms of the future, not the near present.

I think coaster05 understood you just fine. I'm going to have to agree with him that not many people from other countries will come to AL for one park.

This park will not attract foreign visitors in droves. Yes that is an opinion.

Parks in the Midwest can because of their proximity to other parks and the fact that they have much to offer. Alabama Adventures is known for Rampage and nothing else. I think there needs to be at least two major reasons to travel a long distance to a park. Riding Rampage twice doesn't count as two.

I love wooden coasters and recognize that Rampage is well respected but still have not found the time to travel to this park to ride Rampage. And I travel quite frequently just for coasters.

I doubt anyone but the hardcore enthusiasts will be traveling to Visionland anytime soon.

Look at what the major destinations for foreign tourism have. Orlando has a ton to offer, and has huge resorts. SoCal also has a lot to offer, the amusement business is just a small portion of it.. same with Vegas. What does Birmingham have to offer? NOTHING. The park is destined to be regional at best, but right now it isn't even much more than a local park that is an alternative for those too poor or lazy to make the trip to superior parks in Tennessee, Georgia and Florida.

When you are renting a car and arenot experienced with driving in the US I would definately say that the drive to birhimgham of three plus hours is a lot. Not to mention why are the foreigners coming to Tenn or Ga plus the fact that international tourism is way down. I am not sure how many more things we need to discuss. By the end of this year I will have been to 6 different countries and visionland is still not in my top twenty US parks to visit.

We are not saying doomed, we are saying people from other countries are not coming there. I would say on the parks in FL or CA actually count on international travelers.

I don't think its doom because its in AL. I just don't see international travelers going their thats all. I don't think alot of int. travelers even go to Cedar Point that much.

Yeah, unless AA starts theming things on the lines of Disney, it will never see travelers outside the South U.S.
