Out of all the Hypers, Wooden, Floorless, Inverted, Standup, Launched, Shuttle, Racing, Dueling, Mobeus, Twister, Giga, Suspended,Wild Mouse, Mega Loopers, Cyclone, Out and Back, Double Out and Back, Side Friction, Impulse, Flying, 4th Dimension, Bobsled, Pipeline, and Cross overs of all of the above. Which is your favorite?
Mine personally is and always will be Wood, then just plain old sit down loopers (I.E Schwarzkopf, Arrow, Vekoma) Then Hypers, then Launched, whether it have inversions or not.
P.S. Sorry if this has been done before, it seams like a good topic to me.
-------------------- Wild Cat(LC)2006 Ride Count= 151
B&M did not invent the inverted coaster, they took a suspended coaster idea and made it not swing.
Prefabricated Track is for losers.
5+ Years still missing the "Riverside" Cyclone

I have a sweet spot for portable Schwarzkopfs. What coaster type would that be? I don't know, sit down? If I see one, which isn't as often as I'd like now, I need to go on it.

Wood, hands down, especially the ones that beat the hell out of you. I've been beaten up on steel coasters too, but somehow it's just not as fun.

I feel the same way, that's why I love the Cyclone.

wood! i don't really think in terms of wood subgenres. for example, obviously the KI racer or rebel yell are out and backs, but is boulder dash really an "out and back"? no. is it really a "terrain coaster"? not really (i guess the first half is). only a few wood coasters really fall neatly into the categories. the coney island cyclone is always called a "twister", yet it seems more like a somewhat convoluted double out and back. so anyway, my point is i ignore the subgenres.
the rest falls in order- steel hypers, suspended coasters, launch coasters, inverted and and sit down loopers are tied for second to last, and stand-ups are easily last place.

Wood, also. But like the gentleman above me let me rank my other preferences: 1 - Hyper 2 - Launch 3 - Floorless 4 - Inverts (inc. SLCs) 5 - Spinning Coasters (non-Mouse) 6 - Sit Down Loopers 7 - Stand-Up 8 - Flyers 9 - Bobsleds 10 - Suspended
since there is only one Pipeline and one 4D that is have ridden I did not include them

I think the Cyclone and all it's Clones are twisters, but I just refer to it as a Cyclone layout.
Oh and for the subgenres, they were merely suggestions, everyone has there own definition of each type of ride anyway.

Good topic! It is really difficult to pick a favorite type, as I pretty much like 'em all, but here goes....
1. Hypers/Gigas 2. Wooden
(I must say that numbers 1 & 2 fluctuate back and forth a lot, so those are pretty much a toss-up for me)
3. Launched 4. Inverted (including SLCs, which I don't consider that bad) 5. Floorless 6. Spinning Wild Mouse 7. Flying 8. Sit-Down Loopers (May move up if I ever get on one of B&M's versions) 9. Suspended 10. Regular Wild Mouse 11. Stand-Up 12. Mine Trains 13. Bobsleds
-------------------- I'd rather be coaster riding!

I would rank Hypers over Gigas. After all there are only two, however most of us have never been on Steel Dragon so all have have to compare our hypers to is Millennium Force. Hypers have more variety, better layouts...oh yeah, they actually have airtime too.

I think woodies are actually my favorite (Ghostrider, Jack Rabbit, Giant Dipper). Hypers are a close second (Millenium Force, Phantom's Revenge). Then launch coasters (Increadible Hulk, Storm Runner), then inverts (Dueling Dragons: Fire & Ice, Talon)

Giga is currently a stupid catergory since it is so small. Not to insult you, but most of us just put it in with hyper. IMO Hulk is definately launched, why would you say its not.

I always thoth the actuall "worms" on the wacky worms were:
a. Catterpilars b. Scary
Did you know that there is a suspended Wacky Worm called the "Queen Bee". It's the exact layout as the Wacky Worm, built by the same company, except inverted.

I don't understand why you have the S&S lauched coasters in your top six if you hated the only one you went on.

Well my main thing for my name was with wildfire but the b&m invert i was on batman was a little rough at parts especially at the zero g roll which is why i dont like the zero g roll i may in the future. anyway batman was too short and had a lot of force while ninja at the same park ( six flags st.louis) was funner and more enjoyable. if i go on a coaster like raptor that may change

I am still shocked on the SFSTL version of BTR being rough and intense. I found that version to be the best of the 4 that I have rode.
