.... on when Voyage is going to have to be dismantled and totally rebuilt.

http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2006/11/and-for-this-we-give-thanks.html

I mean, 1100 feet of retracking after only a few months of operation? If that keeps up, they are going to have to retrack the entire thing after 5 seasons. How big of a joke is this? I think we have a new Hercules on our hands here.

What did I miss. Why did they have to retrack it?

Mostly just because it rides so "aggressively".

Yep, my friend went to the opening, and she said there was one spot where you would get ripped twards the right, and basically snap your back.

I think that if HW dosen't mind this constant trackwork, then let them do it. It's an amazng ride.

I agree I think HW new this was going to be part of the commitment. It is by far the most insane out of control wooden coaster I have ever seen.

Off point I am so tired of the "everything is rough people". You are essentially strapped into a giant skateboard rolling down a man made wood mountain thats whole goal is to throw you out of your seat, and people get surprised that a ride has some rough spots. Tough it up or get a new hobby.

Skierman this rant was not directed at you, though I was at Holliwood nights and felt nothing at all like your friend described.

In an attempt to rip ultra-HW fanboy Paul Drabek, I found this the other day...

Check out PW's Holiblog post and rejoice in knowing that 1,120 ft. of track has been replaced. I thought Voyage was running great during closing weekend so I can only imagine how it's running now.

yeah, dude, thing is... it DID shake itself apart!! That's why after a mere 5 months of operation, a sixth of the track is being replaced!!! Effing tools.

BTW I hope this thing destroys itself... but then we'll have to hear about "when the Voyage was amazing" for 20 years...

i didn't ride boulder dash until this year. it was rather rough but totally enjoyable. i rode it 12 times! people are crazy about that ride, rough or no. next season it will be even more amazing with some refurbished segments.

a great wood coaster ride is a thing of timeless beauty. i hope that parks with amazing wood coasters accept the burden that these organic beasts inevitably come with and give them love.

according to rcdb the initial investment in the voyage was a mere 6.5 million. that's not really that much money for a mile+ long coaster! i'm not an accountant at holiday world, but i think as long as the ride is running well each season they will easily earn back the money they invest in maintenence.

years later (and running bumpily) BD is still a huge draw at compounce.

I'm not saying that Boulder Dash is unbelievably rough, just that even thought CCI changed their name, there coasters still don't have the greatest build quality. Although it's rather an extreme layout, plus although I love the look of the PTC trains much more then millennium fliers, they would be a much better fit.
