I know that blogs are an acquired taste from first hand experience. I used to think that they were one of the dumbest parts of Web 2.0 and I work in the Internet industry. Friends of mine recommended that I start one instead of building a coaster site that I'd had in my head for years.

I'm curious to see what other coaster enthusiasts think of the idea. I haven't come across a lot of other coaster-related blogs out there. Politics, gaming, and technology rule the blogosphere. Anyway, I wanted to promote the idea of starting your own coaster/theme park blog. Think of it as a way to chronicle your travels and share your experiences with others. If you're into that type of thing. Since you're on this site, there's a good chance that you are.

It's also a lot easier than starting a full-fledged web site. A blog post can take as much time as it takes for you to enter a ride review on this site or post a comment in this topic about how dumb blogs are.

What do you think?

I tried to capitalize on the blog rage by including a journal for my sites' users instead of a Trip Reports forum - so far it has seen limited use.

I have a hard enough time trying to keep up with my journal on B. Fun's site.

Awesome, I cant really complain about it not being used because I know I'm not the best at updating it either

On the point of the original subject - its almost like the people who would be interested in that probably alreadu have a weblog, so why not just use it for all purposes?

^yes i haven't started a blog yet, but i think when/if i do, i will most likely integrate everything i'm interested in, not just one "hobby".

regarding blogs generally, there are some on the web that i value a lot. blogs are awesome, some more than others.

You guys have a point. Since this blog is taking the place of my coaster site, it's coaster-centered. But it is making me want to blog about everything and anything like a lot of people do. It might even cause me to spinoff another blog where I do that. As if the first one doesn't take up enough of my time.

I'm getting a decent amount of traffic for a new blog (I think). Google loves blogs, by the way. But it will be interesting to see if I can build a community and get regular readers like popular blogs have. Thanks for your feedback!
