Since Voyage's opening this year as the world's wooden coaster with the most airtime in the world at 24.2 seconds, I was wondering if ya'll knew which steel coaster has the most airtime in the world & how long that airtime is too?

The most I got out of this forum was Apollo's Chariot at around 26 seconds of airtime:

They would make your name sing and bend through alleys and bounce off all the buildings

I think Millenium Force has more air time then Apollo's Chariot. The height and speed are alot more then AC and MF has more hills and airtime IMO.

that's right MF has practically no air, I can't understand why some people insist it has air time

I've been on it a couple of times, you do get some airtime but it is very little, nowhere near 26 seconds, not even close.

Height and speed has very little to do with airtime, hence the reason so many of us like phoenix.

I would say AC or Phantom's revenge.

I think Magnum has a ton more airtime than MF with all the little hiils it has near the end.

I was surprised no one mentioned S:ROS at SFNE. It's nothing like the SFDL and SFA versions and it's nothing but airtime. But I haven't been to Cedar Point yet(5/13). I love Apollo's Chariot but S:ROS at SFNE bumped it to #3. I remember Phoenix having a lot of airtime too.

Yeah, the Phoenix is packed with airtime.

I will always have a certain fondness for the Phoenix, it was my first coaster...

The question was what steel coaster has the most airtime though.

The reason I didn't mention Superman was because that is basically ejector air, and I would think that in terms of time floater air would give a longer experience of airtime.

I would put S:ROS at SFNE right behind AC in terms of airtime for a steel coaster. I love them both

Hmm, I disagree here...strongly. I got very little air on MF, but tons on Apollo's. I don't know if Apollo statistically has the most airtime (I think I did hear that somewhere though...), but it sure feels like it does, and it would not surprise me at all if that is the case.

How are you going to say that the Millennium Force has more hills than Apollo's Chariot? Millie only has four airtime hills compared to AC's nine airtime hills. That means that the Apollo's Chariot kills Millennium Force when it comes to airtime.

I have been on MF it does have a little air time on it. But there is no way it has the most air time.

I agree. You can cite any number of great things about MF, but bountiful airtime is not one of them.

Magnum XL-200 and Phantom's Revenge both deliver excellent airtime for a steel coaster (albeit of the ejector variety). SROS at SFNE used to, but I haven't been on it since they changed the restraints.

You're kidding right? Steel Force's a great hyper, but it doesn't even compare with the likes of Apollo's Chariot, Superman: Ride of Steel at SFNE, Magnum XL-200, Phantom's Revenge, & even Millennium Force in terms of having monster airtime. The bunny hills' airtime's toned down because of the heavy MCBRs & after going up the 200 ft. lift hill, the train looks like it's sorta hanging over the top of the crest before it drops, so the airtime's sorta limited too.

Choosing from coaster's I've been on, I'll go with:

Steel Force
Nitro (back seat only)

both don't have much, but those are the only notable ones I've been on.

He did say out of the ones he has been on and I think Knoebels is fairly young and has not been to that many parks.

You can still feel the air on S:ROS, but some of the ride ops staple you in more than others. I'll still make the trip to SFNE once a year to ride it.

i think phantom's revenge must have the most violent airtime. it seems like the train is hiccupping riders because the ejections are so spasmodic.

that ride must work the crap out of it's up-stop wheels.

Knoebels is only 12 guys. Thats really cool. When I was 12 I don't think I had even been on a coaster. I was hanging out with the girls at my school.

Steel force is lame though.

Our GOLIATH apparently times out at 30 seconds but having people time it while riding ususally produces a figure closer to 25 seconds. That's still a lot of funky floating-turned ejecting on that ride, especially eing "a mere" 4400 feet long.

Oh, and BTW:

Same with me, I'm only 12 and the only parks I've ever been to are Kennywood, Knoebels, Hersheypark, Dutch Wonderland, Morey's Piers, and William's Grove. I've only been on *sob* 5 coasters (including HSTC). Once again: I am so inexperienced!!!

Back to the subject.

I've heard Desperado @ Buffalo Bill's has a bunch of airtime periods that are sustained for a while. Does it compete with Apollo's Chariot or not?

^ Probably not.

Don't worry about being "inexperienced". As long as you love going to parks and having fun, that is all it is about.

I've never been to Cedar Point (I'm going in a few weeks). If there's little or no airtime on MF, what's the big deal? The height and speed?? Maybe I should read some reviews.
