Knoebel's
Holiday World
Indiana Beach
Lake Winnie
Stricker's Grove
Funland Rehobeth
Seabreeze

If anyone can give me at least three more, I'd be very grateful! Thanks!

Technically Silver Dollar City, Celebration City, and Dollywood are owned by the Herschend family (with Dolly Parton at Dollywood). Their company, HFEC, is private and not publicly traded.

I don't think Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, or Celebration City is family owned because they own a few different parks.

^What? Did you read what Dukeis said?

HFEC owns those parks, and HFEC isn't a public entity.

He didn't include Stone Mt. because they don't actually own Stone Mt, they merely operate it.

They (being the ones Dukeis listed) are family owned and operated parks.

I'd include Kennywood, Idlewild and Lake Compounce since, like the Hershcend chain, I'm having trouble finding proof that KE isn't a private company either...

Martin's Fantasy Island fits the profile too...

It all depends on how ones defines Family owned. If a company is public but one family owns a majority of the shares would one consider it family owned, I for one would.

An example outside the amusement park world is International Speedway Corp. To me it is a family run business (run by the France family) even though the stock is pulbicly traded

With HFEC a vast majority of the shares are held within the Herschend family. On the other end of the spectrum, although Kennywood Corp. is an independent privately run company and the shares are dispersed and not held by one family.

Ok how about this one. Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Chessington, and Heide Park.

There all owned by Tussauds Wich also Operates the Wax Musiums around the world. Woudl you consider these parks family owned.

I don't know much about Tussauds as a corporation, but if the family controls a majority of the stock then it's a family company.

Reminds me of an old Simpson's episode. Bart is in Sunday school and the teacher tells him that animals can't go to heaven so he asks, What about a human that has an animal part transplanted into him?

Well las tI hear They didn't since CA you needed liek 65/70 percent to have majority. Word on the Disney fan sited is teh family still controles 60% of the park between roy and all of his family. I think you guys can get the idea though.

If the Disney family owned that much stock they would have had a lot easier time ousting Eisner when Roy Disney was pushing for it. If you control 50.1% of the stock it doesn't matter what the 49.9% say.

It al; depends on the state. In GA you have to have 65% to have majority clame. My uncle hade that problem with his buisness.

Anyways I'm trying to make a point about big Companies liek Disney, Silver dollor, Kennywood, Great American family parks, etc that are technicaly family owned.

park ot this is I when I do my paper if I'm talkign aobut family parks I talk about the smaller parks that need the attention.
