In your opinion, which park has the best flat rides. For me, it would have to be Knoebels. Knoebels has classic flat rides like a Paratrooper, Tea Cups, Tilt-a-Whirl, Flyer, Whipper, Merry Mixer, Skooters, and more. Also, they have modern day thrillers like Power Surge, and Fandango. Also, they have a variety of family flat rides like the Rocking Tug, and the Paradrop.

Knoebels is closely followed by Canobie Lake Park.

Of course Canobie

Knoebels has done it for me for a while. I'm spoiled. Dorney is right down the rode from me and Knoebels is an hour away. I can get a good mix of great flats between the two. Then again, Hershey and Great Adventure are about the same distance as Knoebels is and those are horrible in the flats category, so I guess it is all a push.

But yes, from my riding experience it would have to be Knoebels. They have good rides and run them for long cycles.

Knoebels is very good,

However I would rank them third.

1. Adventureland(Iowa)
2. Indiana Beach
3. Knoebels
4. Kennywood

As of now, Knoebels - vintage, pristine, best of their kind.

Probably Knoebels for me too, although I don't think Hershey's selection of flats are that bad. Trimpers in Ocean City, Maryland has a great selection of flats as well,as does Morey's Piers in Wildwood, New Jersey. I'm not sure if they should be included, though, because the beach type amusement areas usually don't have many coasters to compete against them.

Hershey has a nice selection, but they just don't run them well at all.

Due to crowds, many of Hershey's flat rides usually have short cycles. However, I do agree they have tons of flat rides.

I guess 'cause it's been over a year since I've been there, I don't remember the cycles.

The cycles are really bad, but is it really due to crowds? I have been to busier places and the cycles are much longer.

Astroland, not too many flats but they sure know how to run them!

^agreed, astroland is totally great. i lump in the wonder wheel (best ferris ever)with astroland. darkridr, trimper's is a wonderful place too. i don't know why, but for some reason i found morey's piers to be distasteful. there's some kind of weird "vibe" to it, like it's built over an indian burial ground or something. sorry i can't reel in my criticism better, i just didn't like it, and it's a bit pricey. it wouldn't surprise me if i walked into the management office there and saw a stripper dancing over a pile of money and a mountain of cocaine on the desk like in scarface. i'll toss in knoebel's for flats but i feel like a dork doing so, 'cause it's obviously the best.

There really is a weird something about Morey's. I wouldn't say what you said, but, ummm yeah... I would just say that it is too carnie for me.

I have three parks which are too close to call: Canada's Wonderland, Lake Winnie and Knoebels. All very good with little weakness at any of those parks.

I'll give you weaknesses for Knoebels: Power Surge and their scambler. They suck

Yes the scrambler would fall under the "little weakness" part. Same with Lake Winnie's so-so Scrambler.

Knoebels' scrambler was a disappointment to me, after riding many of their other world-class flats. I guess Gabrick Manufacturing isn't as good as Eli Bridge Co., at making scramblers.

To me, it's a tie b/w Hersheypark & Knoebels. Hersheypark b/c they've got a wide variety of flats for families & thrillseekers & also over 20 rides for the lil kids. Knoebels b/c their flats are so unique & they've got a wide array of flats you won't be able to find at a lot of other amusement parks. I guess Knoebels wins this one b/c they run their flat rides really well & load them up to full capacity most of the time. Hersheypark's downfall's that they run their flat rides in a very short amt. of time, thus making their flat rides some of the shortest ones around running.

Ex.- I don't like how their Claw leaves 4 seats open.

I've gotta go back to Knoebels next yr. b/c I miss Phoenix & Twister, all of their amazing unique flat rides, & mostly b/c I haven't been there since 2002. Can't wait to get my driver's license ya'll so I can travel.

That is what I love about Knoebels. Knoebels loads there rides quickly to full capacity, and they have a mix of great classic rides, and modern day thrillers.

I'm not sure if they are considered to be flat rides by definition, but I'm going with the Magic Kingdom. It doesn't have the most thrilling rides in the world, but the great theming and aura surrounding the rides more than makes up for a lack of thrills. The line-up of Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Carousel of Progress, Haunted Mansion, and the Fantasyland ones are pretty fun for me atleast. Maybe I just have to stop living in my childhood or something, but it's hard to have a bad time on the Magic Kingdom's flat rides.

Magic kingdom is a good one PeterD. I change my mind to the Magic kingdom instead of Indiana beach.

LOL. Got a big laugh out of the scene in the management office. I agree with you on the price issue-it is a little on the high side. I guess because I'm from Maryland originally, I feel more at home at Trimpers than Moreys. I've only been there like 2x in the last 3 years. I'll have to see if I notice anything odd like that next time I go. I'm suprised I didn't last time, since my visit coincided with a full moon.

That definately was pretty funny

I would really like to get back to Morey's next year or something to ride Great White and the other rides that I was not able to get on. I think most of you know what happened the last time I was there And no, it didn't have anything to do with management, if that is what you are thinking.

To me, Knoebels and Indiana Beach are the runaway leaders in terms of flats for quantity, variety and operations.
