I love how knoebels admission plans are, with POP options and the ticket option, makes things cheaper and more reasonable, but when I was there over labor day I got an idea after some of my tickets were soaked from a water ride, that could possibly make things somewhat easier. Instead of handling tickets (this could go to any park who uses this meathod such as Morey's Piers) Perhaps they can sell a Knoebels "credit card" of some sort, where they can still use the same meathod, just instead of tickets it could be point value or e-ticket value (wipe the card at twister and it deducts $2 worth of tickets or 20 tickets, what not). The card holds the balance information, and can be re-filled. This way, instead of carrying around a couple books of tickets with you, you carry around one single plastic card that you swipe at the entrance to a ride.
Im not sure if this sounds rediculous or not, of if this isnt a new idea and has been thought of before, I just came up with it not too long ago and only now decided to post something about it.

No, that's not rediculous. A place called Gillian's down here (I think they are a national chain) does that with their arcade games, so its certainly do-able.

Edit: It's Jillians, and at least they used to. Their website seems to indicate some changes (like no more games, the location in Atlanta has closed). But it's still possible to do it.

I think thats what disny used for The Disney Quest games. Its a good idea but an expensive investment.

From what I've heard, Rye Playland has done the same thing, as of this season. Doesn't sound ridiculous at all - even though I myself love those Knoebel tickets - they never go bad from season to season, and there's just something about having paper tickets in your hand, especially at an old park like that.

I agree with adriahna. I like the ticket thing because it has the old school feel to it that Knoebels exudes.

ah ok, I didnt know anyone else thought of this, and yeah I know, the tickets are classic, just a suggestion. Maybe they can make cards the side of tickets, or have them look like and be in the shape of a big knoebels ticket lol.

They do it that way at Camp Snoopy, also. It's a big technology investment/upgrade and would put a couple of nice older ladies out of work so I don't like the idea.

Did you know before they started recycling they burned all the tickets? That would be something now, considering they fill 2.5 barrels of tickets on a Saturday...The funny thing is when I get wet tickets I don't even count them, I just assume its the right amount.

Yup - I noticed that, much of the time, the Motor Boats are run on a "trust system" - the square buckets along either side of the operator are there for the tickets, and quite often the op doesn't even directly take them - they just sort of gesture towards the bucket. Very cool. Crazy that they used to just burn them...

I didn't know parks still used tickets. I thought most parks were pay one price. What parks use this system? I think it's a good idea to offer both options at the parks because if you only want to ride a few rides why pay the full price. I think more people would attend parks if they had the option of tickets or POP

Let's see... I know that Astroland still offers both ticket and POP options... Rye Playland used to, still might... Knoebels offers both much of the time... anyone else want to chime in here with more parks?

You're right, larry - I was mistaken. I didn't make it to the park last year, but heard from two friends that Rye now has some sort of card system - something having to do with different rates, covering different time spans throughout the day. Not sure of how it works - will see this summer, though. I'd kick myself if I missed out on Rye for two seasons in a row...

Indiana Beach has tickets, but they are really high priced. Waldameer, Delgrossos, Lakemont, Steel pier, Fun spot all offer those options.

All the Jersey Shores parks still sell tickets (although some have POP wristbands also).
