This is basically the same as my former The Most Underrated Parks thread, so I'm just asking ya'll what park deserves the recognition of being overrated? I haven't really been to an amusement park that's been overrated, but I know that sometime in the future that I probably will be going to an overrated park considering that I'm only 16 yrs. old.

Even though I visit quite regularily I find PKI to be overrated. Other then the Beast I am not that impressed with their coasters, the food is average the sevice and souvenirs have really went downhill.

Again this is a repeat of a previasly talked aobut topic but it was a while ago.

SFNE - because it's a SF park people think it's so huge but really it's sub pare to jsut about every other park in the area. I woudl take LAke Compounce and Canboie over SFNE any day.

Welcome to the site thinkdif! Glad t see another theme park fan come to the site. As for an overrated park, I'll say Six Flags great Adventure. A bunch of amazing coatsers however there service which is improving slowly, is still no where near as good as Cedar Point.

I'm going to join the SFNE is overrated bandwagon. Actually I just got back from there 30 minutes ago. Bad traffic/accidents.

Funny thing, I unexpectedly ran into BobFunland and his girlfriend outside S:ROS.

Islands of Adventure.

The park itself is great, but the constant chatter about it on the internet gets annoying.

Kings Island as well.

I actually though that SFNE was better than some make it out to be, but still not great.

It's such a small world!

Anyway, I'm still sticking with Paramount's Kings Dominion. I rarely am so ticked off and disappointed in a park that I leave early, like I did for PKD. The park, which is cracked up as boasting on of the best coaster colections out there, along with being one of the top Paramount Parks, was far from both in my mind.

Joe - what time did you get home? I assume you were stuck in traffic like me. It took me 5 1/5 hours to get home

Late, too dang late (around 2:30). Actually, I took the 90, and visited a tiny park in Albany since I left earlier than expected. I'm waiting for my pics to upload then I will share that experience.

So, I'd guess you didn't make it home for dinner, did you?

When I visited SFNE in early June I had a decent time. I was wondering why people thought it was so bad. I thought they paid close attention to detail. However, most of the flats looked really crappy and I could see the place getting really crammed in the summer. The parking is gay too, but they can't really do anything about that I guess. I wasn't too impressed with the coasters and some of the theming in the back of the park was cheesy. It's not that bad of a park, but it's not very good.

Welcome aboard,

SFNE dose have it's good points. long day hours and a long season. but they jsut don't take care of it. It agravats me when peopel say they have the only big ride in all of NE and anyone whos been to Canobie, Compounce, and Funtown knows better.

Was that park Hoofman's? I miss that when I was up there last year, I just could not get to it. Did they have Lusse Skooters as I have heard?

well I'm not a big fan of Lake Compounce either but my biggest complaints with SFNE are:
Line cutters, dreadfully slow operations, smokers on the line, line cutters, lack of shade, too many flats not operating (Double Trouble, Chaos, Joker's Wildcard, Nightwing, Houndini's, bad wood coasters and line cutters.

Did I mention all the line cutters?

At least I like the food and the bathrooms were clean

I dont know what your talking about when it comes to slow operations. Whats so slow about it?

And the flats:
1. Double Trouble usually operates at least one of the sides.
2. Gotta agree with you, Chaos is down alot.
3. Jokers Wildcard had venting and lighting issues, but it will be reopening soon.
4. Nightwing is closed alot due to mechanical issues usually.
5. All of the Vekoma Madhouses have been closed down because of a design flaw and they will probubaly reopen either late this season or next season.
6. Bad wood coasters? Thunderbolt is aimed for beginners, so it isnt gonna be the most intense thing ever. It also has some great floater air for its small size. And in some spots, Cyclone has some of the most insaine ejector air that I have ever experienced. You just have to stay away from the front seat.

S:ROS - when you have the second train constantly sitting on the brake run with a ride of this length you have slow operations. BDK - although the ride is shorter in duration there should not be stacking here either.

Skierman - your definition of insane air if different than mine. One should be gliding out of the seat not bouncing up and down.

Just a few things here.

Chaos is closed because of the two recent accidents on them. I think they have been closed down chain wide. Besides, they are pieces of crap anyway.

I don't know what is wrong with your haunted swing, ours has been open for about 6 weeks now.

I like Thunderbolt, but Cyclone sucks. It was a poor design from the begining, and there was no way any park could ever have decent upkeep of that thing.

Hudini isn't shut down by the company it's shute down by the state. I heard Hudini in SFGAdv is reopened and all the versions in Europ are working.

SFNE always has a number of flats down Spider is another with only a few operatign days.

I think that Lake Compounce is the most overrated park. Compared to other New England parks, they don't have all that many rides for me. I find the food below average, and it's a bit expensive, for what you get.

While I think the food was really good (at least the catered stuff), I can see your point on the price

The price is horrible. A little tip on that though, there are a few places in the area (I can't really remember where they are or what they are though) they they have coupons that give upwards of 14 dollar off admission. The price was quite steep. I wasn't expecting a higher price for Lake Compounce in comparision to a lot of the higher end corporation chains.

I really am not too fond of their water park, and I don't feel that their price is worth it for me.

As far as LC gos that only 32.95 before any Discounts. the park has what 25 rides and the water park. ya your aying for the water park but you pay for those atraction at SFNE, TGE, Canobie, Six Gun City, etc. out of the park I mentioned canobie is the only park that is lower priced with more rides. SFNE $50. TGE $40, Sic Gun (11 rides and 5 water slides) $18.

There price isn't all that bad. parkignis only $5 compared to other local chain parks.

note: MRC has claimed such discounts exist, but as far as I know no one else has found a discount for the Lake. Take it for what it's worth.

Larry and myself also found no such discounts. I think the price is a little high, but the park itself is not overrated. Plus we all know you are paying for the free pop.

I found a $12 discount at a convenience store a few miles from the park. I heard it on the radio on the way up and just decided to drive around because I was early getting to the park. Don't ask me where the place was because I got myself lost.

I'll send a quick post out for LC.org. I know the Convenience stores have them but I'll see what other ones they have.

damn you Herc - when I met up with coaster05, I stopped at two different convenience stores and a Mickey D's hoping to find a coupon and couldn't. I should have been listneing to the radio.
For the record I think LC is overpriced for the type of thrills I enjoy.
