They get around things so easily also, such as different types of terrain and inconsistancies, and stuff like fitting things into spaces and still coming out with an above average ride. Just look at something like Great Bear and look at the video of Goliath. Just pay attention to the detail there and you will be blown away by what they can accomplish and make it look so easy. We just take it for granted sometimes.

I have to agreee with all of that. They seem to put more thought into their designs. I keep wishing that Drachen Fire had stayed a B&M. It would still be standing there. Hmmm, memories in the corner of my mind...Oh, sorry. I used to work on that blue beauty and I still miss it. Anyway, back to topic, even though they have been around for a while now, they still have a bright future.

I don't think they put more thought into their designs, they just stick with a proven method that works time and time again.

I don't know man. From an outside view if you compare, say, Intamin's hypers and B&M's they have major differences other than just the track. Now again, it could be a product of the park but the Supermans seem to be a pretty basic layout where Apollo's Chariot or Nitro seem to be made to fit only the area where they are built. Maybe that is a biased view, I dunno.

As B&M's self-proclamied #1 fan (thanks to the holy steel trinity of IMO the best invert[alp], looper[kumba], and hyper[AC] on the planet, although I need to ride Kraken) I had to throw in my two cents on this topic. B&M's are the best around for all of the already mentioned reasons. Comfort, smoothness, original layouts (more often than not), increased capacity, innovative designs (floorless, diving) etc. Even subpar B&M's are still above average coasters. A good example is Batman at SFNE. Nothing special about it compared to other B&M installations but it's still that much better than another company's sitdown looper. And Sheikra unfortunately didn't blow me away but still seems to be a fan favorite among others who have rode it, plus it's the first of it's kind on this continent. Also, let's not forget they OWN stand-up steel coasters and made them rideable and even enjoyable.

I don't think new "thrill rides" like TTD and Ka will ever touch works of art like Kumba and air time marathons like Nitro, not in my opinion. I haven't been on either so I can't speak from experience yet.

You're right except for the case of S:ROS at SFNE. This one's not only different from the other two twins it's almost as good as AC in my opinion. Air time out the wazoo, two tunnels, taller, longer, and a unique layout. A sick ride! I'd like to know why this one is different from the others probably b/c they had to squeeze it in the park.

Especially since Six Flags and Cedar Fair, are buying B&M Coasters like crazy. La Ronde and Six Flags Over Georgia are getting B&M Hyper Coasters next year, and other Six Flags parks are getting floorless coasters. Cedar Fair, has recently been buying B&M inverted coasters. Next year, the Patriot, and then in 2007, Valleyfair! may get an inverted coaster.

How do you know that La Ronde is getting one? That is just a rumor, unless you have some sort of insider information or something

And what other Six Flags parks are getting floorless coasters? That is news to me

I was thinking the same thing Herc. anyways I think you are getign the point. Intamin has dominated the new rides over the last few years with almost no new B&M's. B&M seems to take more time between coasaters but it works well in the long run.

B&M has delivered a few but nothing that has really gained alot of attention. Shiekra wasn't the hit they were hoping for even though most people say it is amazing. B&M does seem to take more time since most of their coasters are fairly large full circuit rides.

Try again mrc, in the past five years (2002-06) B&M has built 21 coasters while Intamin has built 22. You know better than to spit statements without checking your facts, right?

Right, but I think that he was getting at the fact that Intamin rides have been getting all of the attention, and that B&M waits to come out with the next big thing, eventhough he didn't say it correctly

I little of both.

an RCDB serch I got 20 not 21. you might be counting batman at SFNO. Also 9 of those are outside the US and arn't going to get the attention that the US ones are.

On the same surch for Intamin I cam up with 25 Intamins. with 15 outside the country.

Now Intamin also has a few lingerign faverates from the 1999 and 2000 year like Mellenium Force and The supermans.

Intamin has had many big name instalations over the last few eyars while B&M has has the instalations yes but not to the extent of Intamin.

Most peaple on this site don't talk about Hulk and Duling dragons as an B&M thing but more a straight asotiation for IOA>

anyways Herc had it right when I was tryign to get across that they seem to take more time between instalations. look at the gap between new designed coaster not the clones.

You can't really blame B&M for the clones though because like we have been saying for a while now "It is what the park wants."

What?

The only thing I can comment on is that I didnt use Batman @ SF New Orleans. Thats the only thing I could understand from that post.

My favorite coaster was built by Intamin but I have rode alot of B& M coasters and I like them both. I am more of a traditonalist person when it comes to coasters I prefer hills and airtime but I like a variety of coasters.

Well 2006 shows B&M is not gone any ware. Patriot, 2 Goliaths, Tutsu, Black Mamba, and an unnamed one. 5 coaster in one year isn't that bad given there all custom designs I believe.
