Ocean Beach Park at one time had some rides...I recall riding a Mad Mouse coaster in the early 80's. I don't think the rides are there anymore, but a big woodie built there by the boardwalk would be a nice way to view Long Island Sound!

In time maybe the Casinos will build their own coasters?

As far as I know, Ocean Beach Park still has some rides. It has a full-size aluminum carousel and a bunch of kiddie rides, and for the L04 season their website said they were adding more full-size rides, although there were no specifics. I never knew they used to have a coaster. Even though this park is still in operation there is virtually no info about it online, and ILve never been there, even though itLs in my state.

And the casinoes definitely could and should add rides. TheyLve both got enough land to add entire theme parks (not saying they should go that far). But if the Vegas casinoes can build coasters on there roofs, thereLs no reason why the CT ones canLt add something in the very near future (ILm thinkinLwoodies here).

Ocean Beach Park had a mouse-type coaster called the "Wild Mouse". The last time I was at the park was in 1985, so it must have been removed some time following. I recall they had a small steam powered train ride as well...a rarity as most parks' train rides are gas or electric powered and not coal-fired like real steam locos. It was neat to watch the ride-op stoak the fire in the boiler at the station while the riders boarded.

A few years back before the Six Flags corperation bought Riverside, they did make an attempt to build a Six Flags park in either Hartford, or near the casinos in Stonington. People fought it and the idea was dropped. Six Flags ended up in New England anyway with the aquisition of Riverside Park. But perhaps the casinos will eventually build rides, as the operations are located on indian reservations...where the zoning laws may be exempt...I'm not sure.

If that Wildmouse had a wooden frame it may have come from Quassy, who removed its first mouse ride in 1984 in order to install a newer one.

There was also talk a few years ago of another company (I forget who) wanting to build a theme park and studio on the shoreline (I forget where, it may have been the old Pleasure Beach site). That was fought and fell through the cracks as well. Compounce is doing well. If CT´s other two parks would just add some newer and more significant attractions there would be less need to build an entirely new park elsewhere.

Maybe oen day teh Casinos in NE will. right now there isn't any reason. Liek I posted in other parts of th eiste. they have little family apeal even with the rides. addign a back woudl only bring in those few parents that liek to gamble. as fare as parks go there are already others to keep there familys happy.

I'm sure Lake Compounce will continue to add more rides as like you said, the park is popular and is doing very well. I'm sure we will see a coaster addition within 5 years.

Quassy, while more of a kids' park, could benefit from a wooden coaster, even one of modest size. Dutch Wonderland in PA is a similar family style park with a nice coaster, perhaps a relocation of either the Miracle Beach Starliner, the Whalom Park Comet Flyer, or the Lincoln Park Comet would be candidates?

There´s been rumors that Lake Compounce will add a steelie for the ´06 season, but if they do it probably won´t be anything spectacular (I´d love to see them add another woodie, like the aforementioned Cyclone, but as far as I know nothing is in the works).

There´s nothing wrong with Quassy wanting to be more of a family park, and while the addition of a woodie would be nice, the park should clean up the rides it already has first. They´re not in great shape and always feel on the verge of breaking down. It has the atmosphere of a park that is barely surviving (which I imagine it probably is). So unfortunately I don´t anticipate the addition of a woodie anytime soon, if ever.

The Lincoln Park Comet is in to bad a shape to be moved. also that is in noi way a family coaster it's still a tope rated coaster even though it's been closed for years.

The other two would be a good idea. The Flyer comet from Whamon is only a days drive away they coudl have it done in a month of so time. the coaster is good but not too intence. the park ran it with a conservitive 38in Hight requirment.

And it only goes like 35mph. But like I said before, I seriously doubt Quassy will add anything major in any of our lifetimes.

I would want to bring back the Cyclone Racer coaster from Queens Park, because I always heard it was a legendary coaster. It would be perfect at Disney's California Adventure, because the coaster originated in California.

Texas Cyclone-Astroworld this looks like it would have been a fun one to ride. Too bad they didn't save it and move it to their smaller parks that need coasters.
