Cannonball Loop

See and beleive.

BTW, I have a whole account of my experiences at Action Park/Mountain Creek coming out soon on my website. It's long, like 7 pages in Word. It'll be up on the site sometime real soon.

It is one of the best waterparks I've been too.

It looks like a lot of fun! I found some pictures at
http://www.themeparkreview.com/denver2005/waterworld/waterworld1.htm.

As for that Cannonball Loop... Erm... That is disturbing. It doesn't even look like it is possible for a person to fit in that. Or to pass any safety regulations, as with the rest of the park.

The loop never opened, so you don't have to worry about it. I thought that I remembered it opening, but I was wrong, it never did.

Thank goodness...

It looked like a threat to humanity.

Maybe me remembering being on it is true Because I do remember going on something, flipping and smacking the back of my head and tumbling out of the tube. Maybe it really was that. I feel cool now I'm going to go order a shirt that says "I survived the Cannonball Loop"

It probably didn't; but I bet somebody DID go down the slide at one point. I can't imagine it just sat there for 10+ years un-touched. Just probably not any park patrons though.

I don't really think that anyone would be that dumb to go through that. Oh wait, they DID build it

Anyway, I don't even think that anyone would make it half way through that loop. They would probably just get stuck in there or something.

I don't know, the drop seems long enough to pull it off. If the slide, and I doubt it was, was lined with that slippery foam type stuff that a lot of waterparks use for small slides, then I would imagine that you could easily make that loop. I think that if the water was filtered out at the bottom of the hill, and then the loop sections were sprayed with mist to keep the foam wet, then it may actually work. Though it's still dangerous of course lol.

If you build it, they'll be dumb.

I know, I know... that was awful. But I've seen plenty of instances that prove it accurate...

The average human body is not able to bend in the manner necessary to make is through the loop. Testing done on inanimate objects proved this.

Ah, I never considered that! That would be uncomfortable, wouldn't it.

If the loop had a huge radius which allowed little bending, then maybe. But of course then you'd die from G-forces since the hill would have to be like 200 feet high lol.

Let me please say that I am so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, sorry for bumping up this dead post. I know that it's been over a month since the last post, and I don't want to be the new coasterwom or anything but I must post this...

Some stuff regarding the Cannonball Loop:
"The one ride that has come to symbolize Action Park and its extreme thrill-seeking was, paradoxically, almost never used.

In the mid-1980s GAR built an enclosed water slide, not unusual for that time, and indeed the park already had several. But for this one they decided to build, at the end, a complete vertical loop of the kind more commonly associated with roller coasters (See picture on this discussion thread).

It was opened for one month in summer 1985 before it was closed at the order of the state's Advisory Board on Carnival Amusement Ride Safety, a highly unusual move at the time. One worker told a local newspaper that "there were too many bloody noses and back injuries" from riders, and it was widely rumored that some of the test dummies sent down before it was opened had been dismembered. A rider also reportedly got stuck at the top of the loop due to insufficient water pressure, and a hatch had to be built there to allow for future extrications.

It supposedly reopened a few more times over the years. In summer 1995 it opened for several days before a few more injuries forced another shutdown.

For the remainder of the park's existence, it remained visible near the entrance of Waterworld, tempting visitors with the possibility of the thrilling ride it might have offered yet tempering it with the high potential for injury that was just as obvious from looking at it.

It was dismantled shortly after Action Park closed and has never been rebuilt."

I found that off of Wikipedia and since anyone who goes there can change the information, it might not be true, but the paragraphs intrigued me. My eyes were like, glued to the computer screen while I was reading about Action Park on wikipedia, and I recommend that all of you read this whole page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_Park.

Also, while I was doing a collage about the ocean for school, I noticed a 4-page ad for "Waterfall Action Park" in the 05-06 Sunny Day Guide for the Outer Banks. It reminded me of this...

D3ath Cab, don't apologize at all for re-opening this thread - it's a classic, and well worth revisiting. Much different than resurrecting some lame-o subject that didn't have anywhere to go to begin with, just to add, "Yeah, I agree"...

My memories of the legendary Action Park

Heres that Action Park thing I wrote. It's pretty long, and very real.

Here we go, triple post time PLUS unearthing a post from the TPC graveyard.

I added photos to the Action Park page on my site. The photos are from Mountain Creek but Action Park and MC are the same place so they still work.

I also added pics of the Cannonball Loop in operation that somone sent in.

That park looks insane. I can't believe how long the original Action Park stayed open and why people do stupid things like riding some of those slides.

The website isn't working for me though so I can't look at the pictures.

What seems to be the problem? Are some of the pics not loading or the whole page? It's working fine for me.
