Castle was a very goo dark ride and very old-school as Big John would say. While I missed the constant banging through the doors like what Knoebels ride offers, this one still had some excellent scenery. The black-lit characters were very demonic and evil in nature, and the track was nice in that it twisted and turned and even got a bit bumpy here and there which successfully spooked some. This one does fall a bit short though because nothing really "got me", not even the truck. Otherwise, it had some excellent elements and is well worth a ride when at Lake Winnie.
A fantastic classic dark ride. Im a fan of classic haunted houses like this, and this is one of the best. All the stunts are done nicely including a crazy wacky shack segment with psychadelic lighting and a rotating barrel. The waterfall effect at the end is fun too. The other thing that stands out about this ride is the magnificent art scape that is in the station.
Not that Im a dark ride fan but this is an exceptional ride. With a good measure of camp thrown in this ride is great for first timers or dark ride nuts. Be sure to take in this traditional pretzel layout gem.
As a modern attraction, this one pales... but thats not what this is. This is a classic dark ride, OLD SCHOOL, with blacklight effects and lighting twists and the old creaky scooter cars. Its a fun way to cool off and relax, and the darkness is great to ease your eyes on a bright and sunny day. My fiancee had never ridden a classic dark ride like this one and she really loved it (keep in mind shes a big coaster fan, but is really getting into rides with elaborate color scenery and lighting). Ever since Disney debuted the HAUNTED MANSION, other parks have been playing catch-up with that, and the new trend is for the interactive dark rides (like DEN OF LOST THIEVES, MEN IN BLACK, & SCOOBY DOO), but this ride is a real classic and still a good bit of fun. Truly dont miss the opportunity to ride it when visiting the park!
