A very good ride. Less scary then Earthquake or Jaws but still very good. Worth doing because the line for this is often very short.
I found "Twister" to be quite good despite a few drawbacks. I loved the part at the beginning of the actual tornado strike sequence where the audience sees a very scary looking funnel approaching from the distance and shake the telephone poles. It looked real and gave the attraction a very spooky feel to it. Having been through the Windsor Locks Connecticut tornado back in 1979, my stomach did a bit of a flip-flop at that part. The following events seen in the attraction were wild and more fun than scary. Had I designed the attraction, I would have included a more imposing storm rather than the little water spout which spun in front of the crowd for the second part of the strike sequence, and left out the cow on wires(guess that was included for humor). But despite the nitpicking I have done, this attraction is worth a visit.
Ok, when I first would go on this attraction I was in the midst of somewhat of a facsination of the weather. So, being able to experience a "tornado" like you could in Twister was quite exciting. While I still find meteorology to be exciting, I dont find Twister to be that anymore. Real weather: constantly changing, nothing is the same. Twister: always the same, nothing changes. Definatly has lost what fun was in it over the last year or two. Universal needs to get rid of it, now.
This was the most disappointing thing about one of my trips to Universal, what happened ???
haha, oooh the sad sad twister...maybe living in Indiana has made me a little desensitized to bad weather because the twister...whatever it was...was a gigantic comedy routine to me. the wind blows, the speakers pump really loud thunder, the roof shakes and some dust swirls in front of you. that is Universals idea of "awe inspiring power" of a toronado. I only give it a 2 because the black family next to me seemed genuinely terrified of the whole thing. so if youre a city dwelling minority, check this out, otherwise, go ride spider-man, again.
I liked this ride especially when your in the front line you get a lil bit wet and you can feel everything they put in there. A little crowded though.
This show isnt that great. The twister effect is pretty lame. When I first heard about this I was picturing a HUGE powerful twister, and we get a dirt devil come on! The wrecked house in the queue is pretty cool though.
Ive only rode this once and i found it to be excellent. The final show was awesome. To be honest though i would be suprised if i enjoyed it as much the second time i ride it. It appears to be a cool ride but will have littl reride value.
I hate to spoil this, but you can look on the ground at the cracks and crevices to know EXACTLY whats going to happen. The "set" is too small and the tornado (a very cheap spinnin smoke effect) is very lame. The crowd they stuff in there is horrible unless youre in the fromt row. Oh, and Bill Paxton, uhhhh, forget it......just stay away from this one.
As Bill Paxton said in Aliens: "Game over man." Sure this ride is entertaining, but if they tear it down and put in a roller coaster, you wont hear me complain.
