For me, this was one of those cases where everytime Id go to Lake Compounce, the person/people I was with did not like/care about going on this ride. This time, though, I made a point to go on it and Im glad I did. Its 22 minutes, not 30, but its fun because its a great view, sure (even on the way up...count the flip flops, cell phones, and stuffed animals people have discarded on the mountain!) and its just kind of relaxing. Id agree with other reviewers about it being safe as long as youre not acting like a wiggle worm! Sit still and enjoy the ride.
This is one of the best sky rides you can find. its a long ride(30 minutes) and provides a great way to relax. I prefer this ride after eating. The view is also a great part of this ride offering a great over view of the park and it rides. I got some nice photos from this ride.
Its a 20 min. ride to the top of the mountain and back. The view is breathtaking. You can see the entire Farmington Valley, and even Long Island Sound if its a clear enough day. I love this ride cuz its quiet and it takes you away from people for awhile, and if youre lucky youll see an eagle or some other exotic wildlife you didnt know existed in Connecticut. But if youre afraid of heights, then this ride isnt for you, as its WAY high up over rocky terrain and is VERY steep for a stretch on the return trip down the mountain.
Fun ride, just like everyone said, 25 minutes, and dont ride if afraid of heights (and the ride ops remind you of this before you get on). Great views but I am very surprised that in the age when the every ride has to be made safe and idiot proof that we can still enjoy a ride where someone either purposely or accidentally can severely hurt themselves.
The best sky ride in New England. The is no danger of falling as long as you follow the rules. Just sit back and enjoy. Those really afraid of heights need not apply here. The views are amazing! The ride is long, perhaps a bit too long for more impatient riders. A great way to relax.
Like what was said in an earlier review, due to the ski-lift style restraints, this ride is not appropriate for small kids or elderly folks...which is a shame as the whole family could enjoy this long ride together should they have designed seats able to accomodate all sizes of people. This is the only reason I did not rate this ride a 10. The view is amazing and the ride is about as relaxing as it can get. What is truly a nice part of the experience is the silence as you drift over the cliffs and treetops.
Occasionally you can see deer or other animals running below you. One thing a rider can do to amuse him or herself is to check out all the lost personal belongings scattered along side the mountain below the ride itself. Shoes, sunscreen, stuffed animals, hats...the ride operators must have quite a treasure hunt from time to time.
This was quite a surprise. I really liked this ride alot. Its very high and steep and provides a great view. When I went on it, there was heavy fog so it was like we were up in the clouds. Very very good ride
Fantastic. Best ski-lift/skyride at any park in America. This park has four exceptional rides (i.e., Bolder Dash, Carousel, Sky Ride and Thunder Rapids). Arguably any of the four is worth a special trip to the park. Warning: This ski-lift lasts 25 minutes and you are exposed to the elements. Unsafe for kids that wont sit still. Not recommended for persons afraid of heights. Likely to be closed if the weather is at all bad.
Best "non-coaster" ride in the park! This ride is amazing. Why doesnt this ride get more respect? You can see a lot more then on any observation tower, this ride is semi-thirlling for those scared of heights. The ride is long (25 minutes!). The only minor negative of the ride is when they occasionally stop it for a slow boarder.
They took a traditionaly not so great ride that you go on, just so you can say you did, and made it awesome. Amazing view, long ride, great fun.
