I dont understand the story but it is still a good ride. Line moves slow but its worth it. The scenery is good and so is the big drop. You dont get wet on the drop but as you come around the turn, people shoot you with water and there is a tiny drop under the rocks that COMPLETELY SOAKS the person in the front. My uncle got really mad because me and my cousin came out dry and he was soaked. lol. The rollercoaster part is fun and unexpected. Great water ride.

Sure the story is a bit difficult to follow, but I am more of a substance type of guy, anyway. I look at the substance of the ride first and foremost and then add to my rating based on any extra stylistic elements. On pure quality of ride, I consider it to be inferior to Popeye, better than Splash Mountain and comparable to Ripsaw Falls. However, since the theming is a little lacking it gets an 8. The goal of a water ride, in my opinion, is to get you wet and this ride does pretty well in that department. The coaster element adds to the uniqueness of this ride and it looks fantastic. It is impossible to walk by the structure of this ride without stopping for a closer look.

This ride was a big shock for me. I knew it was a rollercoaster, but I didnt know that it was actually a good rollercoaster! It has a lot of really good parts. The drops are good, and you can get pretty wet. The boats make you feel like your going to sink them since evrey time you go into water the front sinks down and water pours in.

HINT: Ride it twice, and sit in both boats because you miss half of the theming if you only do one.

This was alot of fun, though broke down once and then was down later due to "inclement weather", but managed to grab 2 rides while there. The theming and effects are very well done but the "story" was rather non-existant or very thin. The "hidden coaster element" also caught me somewhat by suprise even though I knew it existed, and was also alot of fun especially when you were with people who had no idea about it. Overall this was as good as disney with theming but not really as far as "storyline" goes.

A fun water/coaster ride. Though many count this as a dubious credit, I do not, and think of it mostly as a water ride with a coaster portion as opposed to a coaster with a water portion. But credit aside, this is a cool ride. The theming is good, and although I cant fully appreciate all the details of the theming since I didnt have my glasses on, everything looked very good. The drop is fun, but I wasnt in the front row, so I didnt get soaked like Bob. I was in the second row with my dad, but my mom and sister were in the front and they got significantly wetter than we did. The coaster portion is also neat, since you arent really expecting any more of the ride after the drop. Overall, definitely refreshing, and worth at least one ride when visiting SWO.

Journey to Atlantis was a very good water ride. This wont rank high on any coaster list of mine, but it is still an excellent ride. More of a water ride than anything else (not to mention a questionable credit), Journey does what water rides are intended to do: get you wet. The soaking I got on Journey was probably the second best drenching I have ever experienced, second only to Popeye a little further down I-Drive. It was unexpectedly good, and even though I wasnt really happy about getting soaked, thats what I got myself into and I can look past that.
The themeing was good. Not up to the standards of some indoor rides like the Mummy, but certainly among the best. Sure, the storyboard may have been a little confusing to follow, but the detail was still there. the building itself was well-themed, much like Buschs boat ride in Williamsburg. Typical Busch theming excellence.
As far as the ride goes, it will be hard to beat. The big drop absolutely soaks you. I rode up front and that was a mistake as I left the ride without a dry spot. A woman asked me as I exited through the gift shop "was it worth it?". Jokingly I replied no, but it was indeed worth it. I would have really liked it on a hot day, but it was manageable with a clothing change once I got back to the car. Oh, did I mention the tidal wave that flushes the boats after the first drop? Or how about the water canons unlike any water canons I have ever seen? How about the little dip before the second lift that just adds to the insanity?
I would have trouble understanding how anyone could walk away from Journey without being thoroughly soaked, or how someone can call a 4 minute ride short. Oh well, I enjoyed Journey to Atlantis more than I would have ever imagined, and to me, it is the second best water ride in Central Florida, and vastly underrated at that.

You know...there were a lot of good and bad things about this ride. For one...the theming was pretty sad looking. The story line alternated too much. The drop is VERY fun, including the coaster track they added at the end. But I rode this first thing when the park opened. It literally soaked every part of me. I had to ring my clothes out in a bathroom so I would not be dripping the whole day. I guess they have the water pressure too high or something, but other wise than getting soaked, the ride was okay.

This is a really poor ride. The storyline is impossible to follow, so there was basically millions of dollars down the drain. The speaker volume was way to low to understand what was going on. The big drop that is the feature of the ride out of the building is easy to see coming and never feels like it has that much speed and it doesnt get you wet, and finally, the roller coaster section was over before it began. I was anxious to see what a half water ride, half coaster, with a storyline, but this was a huge disappointment. I encourage to watch it for a while and squirt people with the water jets for a quarter then go ride Kraken again.

Journey to Atlantis is a water-droping coaster with a pinch of Sea Story Mysterious. Here you must escape the city before you sink with it. The only reason I gave it 9 was for its short ride lenght. Its still a indeed favorite.
