I have always been a fan of The Great Movie Ride. I think it is really well done. For example, the witch in the Wizard of Oz area, I swear she is real! My other favorite part is when your ride vehicle gets taken over. Just adds a little fun to the ride. My only complaint is that the last time I was there (July) we got stuck it what had to be the worse line ever. I dont mind waiting in line, but before they had about three cars going at a time and you moved quickly through the area that has the movie clips. That was not the case this last time. They loaded one car at a time, I saw that movie at least 4 times. They need to go back to the old way of loading.
This is a fun indoor attraction and is the best way to beat the heat on a hot sunny day at MGM. The theming is, well, Disney. They recreated so many well-known scenes perfectly as you go from movie to movie with your tour guide. The Great Movie Ride is a great way to relive some of the classics.
The Great Movie Ride along with the Backlot Tour were the two attractions that built Hollywood Studios into what it has become today. While once arguably the park’s most popular attraction, now more flashy attractions such as the Tower of Terror, Toy Story, and the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster have surpassed it in popularity. Nonetheless, the Great Movie Ride is still a pretty popular attraction, but I’m personally not the biggest fan of it myself.
First and foremost, I can’t knock the ride’s appearance, a towering, dominating replica of a beautiful Chinese theater with attention paid to every single detail. Moving past that, another positive about the attraction is its large capacity, leading to lines being almost non-existent. In fact, I think the longest wait I’ve ever had for this attraction was 10 minutes.
As for the ride itself, I personally just find it outdated. Aside from the fact that attraction is very long (over 20 minutes!), I simply just haven’t seen almost any of the movies featured on the attraction, leading to me having little interest during the attraction. However, the scenes were well executed, especially the fake robbery which is by far the highlight of the attraction for me.
Despite the movie’s impressive arsenal of popular flicks, the Great Movie Ride just isn’t really all that enjoyable for me. Nonetheless, it’s still one of the park’s most unique attractions, and I’m sure anyone who enjoys movies will enjoy this attraction, though if pressed for time, this is skippable for far better attractions.
A very classic attraction of MGM comes alive with ride through scenes of top notch films such as Indiana Jones, Mary Poppins, Alien, and of course Wizard of Oz. The whole family will enjoy.
The effects are ok and the ride is ok. The best part is the alien jumps out at you.
It was alright. The elements were o.k.
I loved this ride. It was educational, had nice effects, and I still get surprised when the Alien comes down in that section of the ride. A truly enjoyable Disney experience.
the ride kind of dissapointed me. it wasnt that exciting at all, and our tour guide person wasnt very interactive.
I havent been on this one in a couple of years, but I dont remember it being all that bad. There were parts I liked and others I didnt. I had to wait in a long line and if I remember correctly the ride seemed a bit too long unless you were very intrested in it.
This Is An Awsome Ride. The Special Effects Are Neat. I Wonder how they switch the people. Evrytime I go it is different. They switch at different places.
