Ive ridden this ride many times, but I always rode in the front of the car. On those rides, Id say a 9, best in the park, barely edging Medusa. This past Sunday, though, I got a ride in the back row, and all I can say is damn, that was one tight ride. In the back, you pretty much get thrusted over the crest of the lift hill and experience wild air-time over almost every hill. By far the best ride at Great Adventure, and I cant wait to go back and ride it again!

UPDATE: Still a great ride, but after riding Chiller with lap bars theres jus no way I can continue giving Nitro a 10. Therefore it gets bumped down to a 9. Still, though, no greater rush in the park than Nitros first drop.

This ride is no doubt the best ride in the park. The first hill is just awesome with awesome air time. I could ride this thing a million times and never get bored.

Unlike my rating of two,i realized the lines are short and its a pretty good ride in the back vvt......and vvt doesnt mean anything me and flatface just made it up,no meaning by it.....b&m rider.....u said viper and GASM were getting torn down...how do u know

WHOA! WHAT AN AMAZING COASTER! GOOD AIR TIME AND THE FIRST DROP IS AMAZING! MY FAVE PART OF THIS RIDE IS THE CAMEL BACK HILL!

My favorite coaster! Best hangtime, although it is a little shaky... but just from the blazing speed! I like the signs on the lift that tell you when youve surpassed the height of Niagra Falls, a little thing to take your mind off the giant drop below. Much better than Apollos Chariot and Superman: Ride Of Steel.

Nitro makes u leave ur stomache on the top of the rollercoaster. Although im just a kid i must say it an all around great roller coaster!!!!!!!!!

It gets a 10! Contrary to the Amusement Today poll Id put this B&M speed coaster above Apollos Charriot. This ride is taller, faster, and has more kick. Also, the restraint system and open sides to the vehicles give the riders a very free sensation. Ride it in the front first to get a feel for the layout. Then, ride it again in the back seat and enjoy one of the best steel rides on the planet.

I went just yesterday to Great Adventure. There were no lines at all. We got right on Medusa, Nitro, Scream Machine,(The Chiller was closed), Rolling Thunder which needs to be painted,etc. Nitro is Second smoothe to Medusa. Nitro is awsome you should ride it.

Nitro is an excellent ride. You start off going down a small dip before you go into the lift hill. To intimidate you, several signs are put up comparing you with the heights of famous landmarks. When you crest the hill, you wait for the highly anticipated drop, but it doesnt come as soon as you think. You just keep turning further and further over the edge for what seems like an eternity. Finally, you get hurled towards the ground. Once you realize whats going on, your already climbing the second hill at around 80 mph. It creates the illusion like your going up vertically. You then drop several more times before you reach a helix with strong g-forces that stick you to the back of your seat. After a brake run and several bunny hops, you arrive back at the station. Overall, this ride was amazing, and Im very happy I chose this as my first hypercoaster. It was just missing one thing: airtime. Even the back didnt have very much, but still, it was an awesome ride. Ride in the front for the wonderful view, and the back if you want some airtime.

Nitro kicks ass and it is a great coaster......it is a great ride all around

tip: sit in the front (i hear its great) or back (u get air on the 1st drop)
