Having ridden Titan at SFoT, which is this with an added helix. I greatly prefer this ride. The landscaping and station are elaborate when you consider it is Six Flags - the coaster logo and sign are effective. The ride itself was excellent - smooth, fast and thrilling. Can anyone tell me what was in between Colossus and the rest of the park before this ride?
Goliath is alright. I didnt find myself surprised at any moment, I thought the way the train crawls over the first drop was anti-climactic and the tight twists and turns made me a little light headed, which really isnt a good thing. All in all, I think the pacing is off and feel there is no standout or signature element. Oh the flipside, its smooth, picks up good speed a couple of times and is actually re-rideable, dizziness not withstanding. Goliath just cant hold a match to rides like Millenium Force or Nitro.
OH MY GOD! WHAT A RIDE! I loved Goliath. Talk about an intense first drop. 155 feet up and hitting 85 mph on just the first hill... it cant get any better than it already is.
ATTENTION!!
If you are afraid of heights, or afraid of high speed fun, then this ride is NOT for you!!
This has got to be my favorite roller coaster. The first drop just blows you away. Going that fast, and that steep right into what looks like a bottomless pit is just awesome. If you ever get to SFMM, you must ride Goliath...
Air time can kiss my ass. Inversions are all that matters. This ride is fun but lack of inversions drops it a point. That and the line always sucks drops it another point. There is never a good time to get in line for this unless you do it first thing in the morning. Otherwise its long all day.
A great ride. The first drop is insane. Then into a great headchopper. The hills in the middle are so much fun. And the helix is really intense. U can barly move. All in all a great ride
great ride lots of air time, good drops cool headchopper, lots of Gs too like being crushed it was fun. it is really just a fun ride
Now this is one ride I wanted to ride. According to the Discovery channel, this ride was as good as MF. NO WAY! This ride is not even close to what MF has to offer. This is a good ride, but not a MF quality ride. I liked this ride, but no MF though. But Im not comparing here, I am rating. The drop, great, the second drop, great, the hill after the second drop, THE BEST. Then the trims, then the, what I like to call it, tangle of terror. You are going every which way, but having fun doing it. Then the most intense helix I have ever been on. This thing never seemed to end, and my heaad still isnt the same from it. This is a 10, but no MF!
Goliath is one of my favorite Magic Mountain coasters. The 254-foot drop is incredible and its worth waiting for the front seat. The second drop gives you a little bit of airtime. After the midcourse trim brakes, you get a taste of the overbanked turn but once again, you have to be sitting in the front seat for the best effect. Then finally you approach the "helix from hell". Better take a deep breath and fill your lungs with plenty of air. My vision always gets blurred on this element and you exit out of it not a moment too soon. This coaster by Giovanloa is incredibly smooth and very rerideable. I also like how the cars are designed. They are very comfortable to sit in but there are no grab bars to hang on to (except if you want to count the lapbar). But then, this coaster was designed to be a hands-free ride. The waiting line usually moves fairly well but this summer one of the trains was off the tracks. Only 2 trains were running. Overall, this is one great coaster and is a must ride when at the park.
Great first and second drop. The break run was a little too agressive. The second half is smooth but could use more airtime. Unforunately the break-run has taken all the excitement out of the final helix.
