I really wanted to like this ride, the layout looks great and all but it is just too rough... I dont mean the inherently violent nature of the layout, but rough tracking... felt like I was on a side-friction coaster. I dont mind airtime and laterals, but when the *train* is getting airtime and laterals it stops being fun for me.I wish I had gotten to ride it in better condition, and before they altered the first drop. Why do you suppose they kept the old track in the drop, is there hope for the future?

According to Ultimatecoaster.com coaster designer Bill Cobb woke up one morning with indegestion, and that was his inspiration for designing Cyclone. Cyclone speeds up, slows down, speeds up, slows down, knocks you here, knocks you there, in a very successful effort to keep you from knowing whats coming up next. This coaster has been abused over the years (perhaps reflecting the abuse Cyclone heaps on its riders) by its owners attempting to tame its primordial heart. After time and again adding needless trim brakes, Cyclones famous twisting first drop was softened for the 2001 season (Six Flags chose this over allowing more money in Cyclones regular maintanance budget after they brought back the heavier Philadelphia Tobaggan Company trains.... that she was designed for!!!). In the end it hasnt mattered, trim brakes and new drop havent made this outstanding one of a kind any less savage. Steel coasters may be faster and the Gs more intense, but nothing instills sheer terror like Cyclone.

When i first saw this woodie, i couldnt wait to ride it. Now i know why: this is one intense woodie. The drops, speed, and angles are awesome. This woodie is not for the faint of heart though cause it is one rough cookie!

I had mixed feelings about this ride. At first it looked pathetic, like the first ever roller coaster. While riding, I was so afraid of falling off; it was scary. It was like a death coaster. But it had great drops and everything and it was pretty fast. It made me want to ride it again.

THIS RIDE IS AWFUL! Way too old. It is like an old version of the Mind Eraser. SFNE should check out the Cannonball at Canobie Lake , and see what the Cyclone is missing.

This coaster is more like a cult movie... you either love it or you hate it. As for me, I love it (Or whats left of it). I get some kind of buzz off of getting my ass kicked at 55 MPH, and the sheer insanity of it all. Lots of people dislike this- and thats understandable..but I find it really addictive. This ride runs best usually from dusk/sunset to the night. A ride in the front seat with the sunset peaking through the mass of wood is an amazing sight. This coaster just does it for me. The best time I have ever had on the ride was when they let me stay in the front seat with like 5 other people on the train way behind me, we rode like 3 times in a row. I felt alone getting thrown all over the place. Its an awesome coaster, but thats just my opinion.

Very rough. I hear that it is getting re-tracked for this year. If it was smoother, it would get a higher rating. Other than the roughness, great ride.

Still a great ride, even after adjustments made in 2001-2002 offseason. Liked it more before adjustments, because I felt they took away from the intensity, which was what made Cyclone so great. Great banking.

To much air time for me. I feel this because I felt like I was going to fall out. I litterly lifted out of the seat. I perfere Stell costers. Another thing I like airtime, though the cyclone has a little to much for me, thats all
