this is an awesome ride but cyclone is better this is smoother though
This ride sucks . My grandpas walker moves faster than this even after he eats raspberries.
This was the first coaster I ever rode 35 years ago and its still one of my favorites. We used to go to Riverside on the way to Boston where wed hit Salisbury and the Thunderbolt there tehn head down to Revere Beach and THE Cyclone. That ride was an 11 on todays scale. Anyway back to the riverside Thunderbolt. Its short, sweet, feels powerful does get great air on the first and second turnarouns. Its one of the last survivors in the park from the "Riverdump" days. Perfect coaster to introduce the kiddies ( who may be too short for the Cyclone)to the wonders of that visceral fear that comes from making the turnaround before the first drop. Also has a nice bunny hop near the end. Its not intense, but its always fun. And as for the superman fans, I hope Im around in 50 years to see if it still seems so thrilling....Given how steel coasters become so passe so quickly, I think not.
This ride is fun but as CoasterBuf said, its not worth waiting in line for a half an hour. Similar to the Wildcat at Lake Compounce only Much better and it isnt boring.
A great nostalgic ride. they dont make m like this anymore. The coaster has AMAZING AIRTIME in the back car, spend most of your time wieghtless! it could lose the seatbelts though. yankee cannonball doesnt have them
thid ride is sweet, not very thrilling but it was not meant to be, its just a great airtime ride and is reccomended to young coaster enthusiest
I truly enjoy thunderbolt WICKED airtime in the back seat! definetly a must for sfne visitors, NEVER judge a coaster by its size.
I try to make this one my first ride whenever going to SFNE. Its a fun old wooden coaster. The back is more intense.
Im sure some people wont like Thunderbolt compared to todays high intensity rides, but I love old classic coasters. And Thunderbolt does have some surprises, especially if you sit in the back. Enjoyable wood coaster from 1940. Good way to "warm up" before other rides.
No major thrills, but its a fun old wood coaster.
