I was suprised by Iron Wolf - I expected a dull, rough ride experience. After all, Vortex at Carowinds provided that for me, and this was older (not to mention the first B&M project on their own). Well - Iron Wolf does not fit that profile. Id actually not only rank it above Vortex, but Chang as well. There was some nice punch in the dives -- it reminded me a bit of Scorcher, just not as aggressive and intense. The inversions werent too rough at all, and the layout actually did have some thrilling elements and pacing. Overall, while not the greatest ride, its certainly better than what I was expecting.
This was my first stand-up coaster and a fun one to ride on! I would ride this again and again.
This is the first stand-up I was on. I love it for that fact. I have found there are better ones out there. I do the the on at six flags kent. kingdom. But this one has a place in my heart.
I really dont see why this ride scores so low. I liked it a lot. I bumped my head around a little but the restraints were very comfy and I wasnt complaining. I dont like the color or the length but this ride is way underrated and should be more recognized than it is right at the moment.
Fun ride, I was nervous and then I rode it and it was amzing. The loop is so awsome, The corkcrew sort of hurt my head but I still love this ride.
Times ridden: 1 ~ Ride experience: 8 ~ Layout: 9 ~ Appearance: 8 ~ Thrill factor: high ~ Airtime: N/A ~ Reride factor: medium ~ Evaluation: I was really impressed by Iron Wolf. After reading so many bad things about it, I thought about skipping it. Good thing I didnt, I now consider it my favorite stand-up coaster. The layout is very twisted and intense, but surprisingly, didnt put any pressure on my legs like Mantis and Chang do, it felt like a TOGO stand-up more than anything. The old school trains manuever the course smoothly, with only one or two jerky spots that could be considered rough. Overall, considering its age, Iron Wolf is a very nice ride.
I have always said there are haves and have nots when it comes to stand-ups. Let me change that, this is not a have nor a have-not. Has some fun elements and is similar to Georgia Scorcher in layout however it not nearly as smooth as the haves (Riddler, Mantis, Chang and Georgia Scorcher) but nowhere near as bad and painful a ride as Shockwave, Cobra or Vortex
a good ride, but there are much better stand ups, you can tell they are getting better.
I first rode this in late 91 and thought it was a great ride. I had really enjoyed the corckscrew, the loop, and the good pacing. Over time it seemed to get a little bit rougher but I never had a problem with it. When I visited the park this summer it was much rougher. I believe its because of the new restraints. I still enjoyed my ride on this but it lost its ability for re-rides. The only truely rough part of this ride was the corckscrew. The rest of the ride was okay (unless you rode in the back) with just a few twists and drops. I enjoyed this in the front but the back was rough. I rated this on my earlier experiences more then my later ones. Its still a really fun stand up!
Its not as rough as everybody say. I actually liked it because of the turns and pace. I just give it a 7.5 because of the short height.
