I only got to ride this one backward, which was extremely disapointing concidering it would have been nice to ride it both ways. I was also disapointed that the red car wasnt also going next to the blue one. Never the less there were some great turns in there and the first drop is out of no where concidering you dont know where your going, when going backward!

American Eagle will develope a huge line quickly when 1 side is running. When both sides are open the line is shorter. Eagle is one of the best racing woodies around; you can start to feel its age but it is still a lot of fun. 66mph, 127ft high droping you 147ft! Happy 25th to The American Eagle!!

A very classic ride. The original drop is awesome and it goes to 66 mph which is one of the fasted in the country. It needs a little more spunk but it is very entertaining. It is a longer ride at 2:23 and is worth the short wait. It is almost elite but cant quite make the deja vu, vertical velocity, and raging bull class.

The American Eagle is a classic out-and-back, racing wooden roller coaster. The ride really is enormous, as it runs all the way from the back corner of the park to the front corner. The lift hill is very slow, making it feel taller than it really is. Make no mistake though, this coaster is plenty big, and features some great airtime and laterals. The trims at the beginning of the helix are a bit disappointing, though the trains still manage to pick up a lot of speed by the end of it. The 2nd half of the ride is all airtime, filled with bunny hills and another surprise mini-helix just before the brake run. Overall, a very solid woodie that falls just short of a 9 in a couple of key areas, but a coaster that definitely should not be missed when visiting Great America.

Rode this backwards only, didnt know what to expect so when we got some good air on the first drop (front/back of train) was surprising and you also get a good pop in the 3rd hill. Helix was fun, but the inconsistant racing is a minus.

Looks great. Not as rough as I thought it would be. Yes the pacing is bad because of the trim breaks, but that turn around at the end is so huge and looks really cool and is fun to ride on. You get to really take it in visually because it is breaked so hard before that turn around. Backwards was a little rougher to me and I didnt enjoy it as much, still that didnt affect my overall rating.

The Eagle is a pretty good coaster. I like the everything except the helix on the ride. That part is pretty slow and boring. Its fun sitting in the front and putting your hands WAY up; youll be in at least 2 onride pictures.

Great ride. I prefer forwards to backwards, since backwards pretty much sucks. The airtime is great, but they really hurt the ride since adding trims before both helixes. Still a great ride.

In terms of woodies, this one is my favorite. With an opening drop that cant be beat, to the squeaky helix, to the overall feeling that it may fall apart at any time, its a classic. It really sucks going backwards, but since only one is run that way, you can still get the awesome feeling of riding it the way it was meant to be rode. In the back car, going forwards, with about 10 inches between the lap bar and your legs. The air time is unbelievable, and the size is somethingto behold. If youre going to SFGA, trust me, instead of waiting for Viper(which is much worse) hop on Eagles line, and enjoy a great ride.

This is one of my all-time favorite rides. During the last few seasons it ran backwards and boy its fun. In the 27 times I went to SFGA this year, I have gone on American Eagle every time. Go on this ride if you want to have lots of fun. THIS RIDE WILL NOT BE TORN DOWN ANY TIME SOON!!!
