This ride is really boring, just give it one ride just to see if you might like it. All you do is watch a screen, and there is no sensation that you are flying.

I had high hopes for this ride. I even had the best seat possible. I thought you were actually going to fly around, not just stare at some stupid movie. Turns out all you do is stare at a giant screen. Comon Disney, get with todays technology already. I mean it isnt even 3d! Its like a poor mans version of BTTF. I know they didnt want to make it intense, but they didnt need to. All they needed to do was either make you actually fly, or have it be 3d. Either or I would have been happy. There are some good additions to this ride though...I liked the smell effect. If only they got the rest of the ride right. This ride just shows how pathetic Disney is getting with their rides. I wish we had the Imagineers of old times. I mean if you look at the attention to detail in Star Wars, youll see what I mean. And remember, I dont even like Star Wars. California Adventure has zero theming and this ride doesnt help. Better then Body Wars, but comon...thats not saying much considering the difference in time....

The best ride at California Adventure.

Soaring over California is one of the three must ride rides at DCA, but after a few rides Soarin loses its magic unlike other Disney rides. Soarin Over California is a humungous simulator which simulates hangliding over California.There are nine gliders total which you can board but the best glider is easily front and center the rest of the rows dont give as good as an illusion of flying. The ride starts and your gliders are lifted up 60 feet up to the screen and the journey begins. The glider goes through famous California locales such as The Golden Gate Bridge, MIssion Bay, Los Angeles, The beach, woods, desert, mountains, Napa Valley, and finally you reach Disneyland to see a firework display to end the ride. While traveling through certain sections of the ride you can smell things that are specific to the area for example while flying over orange trees you smell oranges and while flying over pine trees you smell pine trees. Barnsey complained that the smell system need some work but I thought it worked wonderfully. This is a very fun and relaxing ride but it does have some minuses. First of all the transition between locations is poorly done since it just cuts from place to place with out any effect showing that we are traveling to a spot in California. The main problem I have with this ride is that the view greatly differs depending upon where you are sitting If you get anywhere other than the front row the ride isnt nearly as effective. See feet in front of you kinda of distracts from the ride and you dont get as good a view of the screen. Finally a problem with this ride is that most Disney rides are very re-rideable while after three rides on three seperate trips I was bored with the ride and wouldnt mind missing it on my next trip. Overall though this is a fun relaxing ride if you have the time request for front row center seats and you wont regret it. Good job Disney!

I was disappointed with this ride after hearing all the great reviews. I got stuck in the last row so my view was obstructed by the peoples feet above me. I could bearly smell the oranges. I had mor fun looking down and seeing how high the ride really was. Too make it better Disney should make it a 3-D atrraction.

I was expecting more from this after hearing all the rave reviews. Needs better themeing, more movement and a better "smell" system to make it a more involving experience and a 10.

Its a very realistic experience. The only thing I dont like about it is the fact that if you sit on the lower two levels, you see the feet of those above you. That really distracts from the scenic views.

My favorite ride at Disneys California Adventure. Though the rides film will deteriorate through the years... Ill enjoy it now!

Awesome ride but could have been better. The random changing of scenes was very odd, and I think they could have done way better than that. It was a very unique and original attraction though!
