Very over rated, but still a very nice woody.
Phoenix is everything that a roller coaster should be. Its fast, fun, exciting, full of gracious airtime, and doesnt use brakes! My initial ride was awesome, but my three in the evening were INSANE. Phoenix has the most impressive airtime that I have ever experienced, especially in the front seat where I had standing air on nearly ever hill. It was ridiculous. My last ride of the day in the rain was one of the most amazing coaster experiences of my life. Phoenix is without a doubt the best classic coaster on the planet.
This was my first coaster that I ever was on. I wasnt sure I would like it but once I got off, I couldnt get enough. I have road other coasters after this and none even come close to the experiance of this coaster.
Some of the best air that I have ever had. The third seat is just great, air all over the place. The night ride is just better. The speed is good for a woodie. I just love this ride. I also like the fact that they haunted it during ppp
I have had this ride talked up in my family for years so I wasnt surprised at how good this ride actaully was. It took several rides for me to really warm up to it however, the night ride definately sealed the deal! It has great air time and a fun layout especially at night when it is "haunted!"
I think I used a whole book of tickets on this ride and it was well worth it. The crew is great on this ride, the airtime is amazing, it has fantastically free restraints, and the ride is brilliantly fun. This was one of the smoothest wooden coasters that I have ever ridden and one of the most eventful rides out there. A true wooden coaster classic.
I dont get it. All the love and praise this ride recieves. I just dont get it. I remember after riding this for the first time. As I pulled into the station after riding only one word went through my head "overated"...and maybe perhaps "thats it". Dont get me wrong, its not a bad coaster but for me it was very forgettable. Great airtime, but average speed, average drop, and average insanity. To each his own I guess. I was gonna give it a 7 but since its been a while and I dont remember enough good things Ill give it a 6 for now. Oh well, Im going to Knoebels next week for the final weekend of the season. Well see how I feel then.
best. coaster. ever. thats all i have to say.
I went to Knoebels this past weekend for the first time. I had heard all the buzz and hype about the unmatched airtime on The Phoenix so I was expecting a lot. After I rode it for the first time, I quickly came to the conclusion that I just had the most fun ever on any rollercoaster. Every hill had ridiculous airtime. The bunny hills toward the end of the ride were the best Ive ever expierienced. I then had to ride it a second time to prove to myself that it wasnt a fluke and it was even better the second time around! The real genius behind this coaster is of course the lap bars and obviously the wonderful design. If the seating included seat belts and lower lap bars like the ones on the modern woodies, the ride would certainly not be among the top ten wooden coasters in the world. The Phoenix illustrates that sometimes its the little things that make a great coaster and not just height and speed.
A nice woodie. Hills are good and hops are good. A wonderful classic and a high quality 1940's coaster. And the fact that they were able to move it from Texas is wonderful.
