The Legend has become one of my favorite coasters of all. It is a very powerful ride with some powerful airtime in the front. It utilizes every aspect of what a wooden coaster should have. Its a good sized length, it sustains speed, it is powerful, has substantial laterals as well as positive and negative, it has tunnels, and it never lets up. When you ride this, you really feel as if youve been on a wild ride. It leaves you breathless, but not from pain, just from a pure rush. It has made Holiday World all the more better.
While I was one who thought this coaster couldnt be touched in 2001 with the Gerstlauer Train. I have now found several coasters that compete or beat it. This is a great coaster, A must ride for people who love the out of control feeling only a wooden coaster can give. My opinion may change for the better as I though the new PTC were not broke in yet.
Ok. Not as good aas ghostrider or son of beast
Very strong and good wooden coaster. Lots of action throughout the ride including some good pops of airtime and a decent length (I kept being amazed that there was more, and then more, to the coaster). The tunnels were nice, but a lack of action within them detracted from them a bit (like that last curve upward on the final tunnel in THE BEASTs helix, really can take your breath away). Also, nothing seemed to set this ride apart for me. Its a great coaster, but it didnt have an overly unique feel and style, just some great elements put together. THE RAVEN has this feel, as does THE BEAST and THE CORNBALL EXPRESS ... you feel like youve ridden a very unique and special ride to the park. THE LEGEND just came off as a strong, fun coaster but no feelings as though this ride couldnt be experienced anywhere else on earth.
I am demoting this coaster due to the installation of the crap PTC trains. The ride was much, much better with the G-trains. Now it is lacking in intensity and has several dead spots. I was very disappointed on my recent visit. A shadow of its former self.
The first ride I rode was in the back car in the beginning of the day, I had never been more dissapointed but I then rode it later and it proved to me that wood coasters need to warm up before you ride. In the front car you get some good amounts of air in about 2 places, the double up has some of the most forceful air on any ride. The helix is now known by me as "insanity Lats" It has the most intense lats on any coaster Ive been on. I like the Raven a bit better because Im an Air time fan, and this didnt have as much as the Raven but it was still good enough to get a spot on the top ten.
Better overall ride than The Raven, because of its wild helices and out-of-control temper. The headchoppers are excellent and the curving first drop is a nice change of pace to see on a wooden coaster. I rode it last with the G-trains, so maybe it will go even higher with PTCs.
It blew me away, it never lets up, I was grabbing the handle bar the entire time laughing uncontrolably. The drop is great, straight into a curve that goes through a tunnel. Then the rest of it, oh man its great. Just when you think its over, its not, theres more that awaits. Wow!
Great ride. Amaizing lats, a couple good pops of air, especially the first half of the double up. Very nice, ride the FRONT SEAT.
What power! What laterals! Everything about this ride is excellent. Not as much air as other woodies, but I guess thats not what they were going for here anyway.
