Disney dubs this as a "Big Thrills" ride, but I didnt find any major thrills, other than the fact that the ride is dark and its hard to see whats coming up. Its not too fast, so it should be appropriate for the whole family, with the exception of very small children. The theming is well done, and it has a "classic" feel to it. The one big disadvantage is that the seats are very close to the floor of the car, making it a tight fit for people who have long legs.

After much hype about this ride through many people, I was expecting a high speed launch like Hulk at IOA followed by loads of airtime. I got neither. Very dissapointing. The fact that its in the dark makes it unique unless you have been on Disneys other Dark Coaster ... Aerosmith which is ten times better.

This is indeed a classic of Walts work. Few things could be up to date (such as the brakes at the end.)
Anyways, this is a great ride. Even as a classic, it puts some new coasters to shame. The theaming is really cool and fun. Neat to see with the lights on...not so neat to RIDE with the lights on.

Theres basically 1 word that describes this classical ride. Classic! When I go to Magic Kingdom, this is one of my favorite rides. It may seem like an old wild mouse to some people, but to most its amazing. I usually get on Alpha, but for once I got on Omega. The trains ( Rockets) are tight which is ok. I am 5 10 and can touch the ceiling on the lift hill. I first thought I touched my friend but I realized it wasnt after the ride. I thought it was smooth and the drops were decent. If this was at say a Cedar Fair, Six Flags, or Paramounts park I would skip it. Space Mountain has a unique atmosphere because of the asteroids and stars. I have come up with an 8 because it is not thrilling enough to be higher nor boring enough to be lower.

Well, Ive been to several parks around the country (but still have many to see), yet this still is probaly my favorite ride ever. Nothing can ever come as close as this does to immersing you into the world that they have created. I absolutely love the whole experience -- from the dark queue that starts off with the beautiful trumpet piece that they play, and continues as you walk though the dark corridors with that eerie space music around you, then to the loading platform "under the stars"...just all sets it up perfectly. While the actual ride only tops out at 28 mph, almost no one can go the whole way without holding on. The lift sets up the excitement as you see the other cars flying by on either side of you, and then the ride begins as you fly through the darkness (looking forward to that bigger drop at the end). In my mind this is as close as any ride comes to perfection -- for this ride to be so impressive today, 30 years from when it was built, is simply unbelievable...and this will always have the nostaglic value that a ride like TTD will never have.

This ride is definitely a classic. I remember going on this when I was a little kid. This is a very unique coaster as its indoors and in the dark. All of the sound effects and scenery make it seem like it was going to be a very intense ride. The problem is that its all just a big show. The ride doesnt really deliver any major thrills. Being in the dark helps it out somewhat. Some of the cool effects like the initial tunnel with the flashing lights are cool too. Theres also a pretty cool drop towards the end of the ride that surprised me. There are now so many rollercoasters unique in their own ways that this one doesnt really excite me anymore. Its still a pretty fun ride and worth riding if youve never been on it. Just dont expect to be overly thrilled by it.

I waited 14 years to ride this. When the first time I went it was closed and killed my day. This was the first thing I rode this time and I loved it. I think this is a great family coaster and is themed well for going to outerspace.

This is just a fun ride. I think however, that the public has made this out to be some sort of huge thrill... which it is not. If you take this ride for what it is meant to be; a fun family coaster, that is exactly what you get. I dont think Disney has ever tried to hide the fact that it is a mild ride. But over the years it has gained so much popularity that people begin to feel disappointed. Never have I felt disappointed on this ride. It has sudden dips, turns, and small drops. The dark factor is what makes it great. If you go in with a childish heart, you will not be disappointd. If you dont, remember there is only a small seat belt, not a shoulder harness...!
