ahh my first wooden coaster its a fun ride but not as good as the other wooden coasters in PA
Renamed Thunderhawk when Hercules was built (for years having been simply known as Coaster) this is Dorneys vintage 1923 coaster. Designed by Herb Schmeck (an oft overlooked genius in my opinion), this started its life as "standard" out and back, but in 1930 was reprofiled and turned into a hybrid out and back / figure 8 / twister. Now dwarfed by the lift hill of Steel Force, this coaster once dominated the "skyline"of the park. Though it is no longer the signature ride of the park, it, like all other surviving Schmeck designs, has stood the test of time well. It has moments of air, some great laterals, and an over all fun course. 3rd seat from the front gave me some wild ejector seat quality air time at points. May not be the biggest and best, but a sentimental favorite. UPDATE: 7/23/2007 Had my first night ride on this. Not sure if it was an optical illusion with the darkness or what, but this thing felt out of control in the dark (while being nothing spectacular earlier in the day). It didnt even feel like the annoying trim break on the bunny hops at the end even slowed the train down that much!
A pleasant surprise. This one might be small and short but it has some good airtime. Its a little rough but still a fun ride. It was definately more than I expected.
A nice classic wooden coaster. Had surprisingly good airtime and was just overall a good coaster.
My first coaster ever. I like it. But you get the feeling that your gonna die. My small friend next to me keeped flying out of the seat.
I think this is an awsome coaster! I didnt realize how much I love this ride until last week when me & my friends kept riding over and over!
This was a good coaster, but lacked something. I dont know, maybe some airtime on the hops.
This coaster needs track work. Trim brakes intended to comnpensate for rough track take all the punch out. On the final run, just when you think you will get some air on the bunny hops, a trim brake almost stops the train.
A great classic woodie-not too many of them around. If you ride in the backseat the turnaround curves tend to knock you around a little. The bunnyhop run home is awesome. I just wish they did not take out the tunnel at the beginning of the ride-that was fun.
This is my #10 ride. It is great because it weaves through the trees. It was my first non-kiddie coaster!
