This ride flat out upsets me. the hill and turns to the lift hill are great. very rarely does a coaster pick up speed like that before the lift hill. the top of the first drop offers a great view of the lake and the banked turn at the bottom. The first turn around is very extreme, being a mere few feet above the lake, and shaking all the fillings out of your teeth. now for the reasons i rated the ride so low. the first drop has a brake on it! this break completly ruins the ride! because of it, the coaster loses all its speed once it gets to the top of the second hill. the 2nd half of the ride is basically a figure 8 with some banked turns. the banks were designed before the brakes were added, the result is the coaster limps thru the turns. if you are on the high side of the banked turn, you fall into your friend on the low side. if you go to this ride early in the morning, they only allow you to sit in the first 2 cars. only as a crowd develops do they allow people to sit in the back. this is also due to the brakes on the 1st drop (need to keep the weight forward). the 1st year this ride opened, those breaks were not there, and this was a great coaster!
Never again. I learn from my mistakes.
i think i couldve cracked my head open on this ride and almost pass out and die, because it is so ROUGH.
If you have never ridden this thing, ride it and you will know what a bad coaster is. I do not want to be all negative though, it is a coaster and it does have its moments. It has a great drop -- it would have been better were it not for the heavy brake at the drop. The ride from the station to the lift hill is a nice touch and that is about it. If the queue is not in the station dont bother because it is not worth the wait. It is not even worth the walk up the hill. If you must ride this for your count approach it from the back side of the Wild Mouse. The shame is that everything was put into dropping the train 150 odd feet down toward the lake without any thought of what to do next. Im not an engineer but a high speed banked turn 180 degrees back up the hill is not the kind of thing wood was designed to tolerate. There is barely enough power to limp back to the station. No more drops, no bunny hops, nothing, just a couple of passes by the station. Line jumpers should be sentenced to ride this thing. All others should avoid it.
I knew that I would not like this coaster when the little course before the lift hill has trim brakes. Getting my a** kicked is fun, but not if Im are going slower than Woodstock Express.
What happened to this ride i loved it before
Hidden somewhere in this mountain of wood is a good coaster. The biggest criticism is that Hercules is rough, and there is no doubt about that. This has to have been the roughest coaster I have ever been on. Some complain also about the trims at the top of the first drop. Actually, by the design of the coaster, if these were not there, I have the bad feeling that it would tear itself apart (it is certainly trying to even with the trims). Many have also said this is a one trick pony… if not for the first drop, it would be nothing. I disagree there. It has a wild run from the station to the start of the lift hill, and even after the drop and turn around near the surface of Lake Dorney, it has a second half course that could be interesting and enjoyable if it were not so darned rough! If it were re-tracked, and perhaps reprofiled a little, especially on the main drop and the turn around over the lake, you could have a very enjoyable coaster here. Even a it is, if you can stand the roughness, it is not really all that bad. Beware of this one if you have a weak back, neck, or are prone to hedaches.
This is a pretty cool wooden coaster. It has a very big first drop but the ride is also extremely rough so it only gets a 7.
Why the brakes at the top of the lift hill? This coaster has the potential to be outstanding. It is a little rough, but not too bad. It also has a great view at the top of the lift (maybe thats why they have the breaks, maybe the idea is to catch the view
). My two major complaints were the brakes at the top of the lift and the bone-jarring vibrations.
The looks of it are a bit decieving. And after the drop there isnt to much left to the ride.
