This is a wonderful roller coaster. Aside from the ride experience, this is such a significant ride, as it was the first modern tubular steel track coaster ever. All the steel coasters that we love today can trace their ancestry back to the Matterhorn. The cars really look like little bobsleds, and riders sit one in front of another, rather than side by side. The initial climb up the inside of the mountain is very cool, as it is really dark and feels quite rickety. At the top the bobsleds pass a nice scene with some ice crystals before meeting the Abominable Snowman, and then the wild descent begins. There are very tight twists and turns and neat dips and drops, and the ride is rough, but in a good way. I cannot imagine this ride without the banging back and forth in the car. The ride constantly goes into and out of the mountain, passing waterfalls and whooshing through caves (the speed of the ride feels much faster than it actually is). The final splashdown into the alpine lake is great as well. There are two sides to this coaster. The one facing Fantasyland is a little calmer, while the one facing Tomorrowland is a little wilder, with one particularly forceful, unexpected drop that dips under a small wooden bridge for the other track. I would recommend trying both, as the line moves very efficiently. All in all, I have nothing negative to say about the Matterhorn. It is an icon for Disneyland that remains an excellent roller coaster, even at 50 years old.

This one gets an 8 just for nostalgia. Its not that great of a roller coaster. It never really gets a lot of speed, and some of the turns can be pretty rough. Still, its a must ride everytime i go to Disneyland!

Two coasters in one equals a great mountain coaster of a good time. The ride never fails my excitement each time I ride it. Love the twist and turns through the icy mountain on this bobsled adventure ride.

Great roller coaster, great theme, first of its kind! I love this simple ride no mater who rough it can get. You dont need a fastpass for this ride (do they even offer that), the line moves pretty fast. Dont miss this ride. Its a classic.

The first ever tubular steel coaster and it shows. Although fun, the ride is very bumpy, almost too bumpy on the Tommorowland side of the mountain. The experience of going indoors/outdoors, the fun splashdown and also good old Harold make up for the rough ride though.

My first ever roller coaster. I thought it looked cool and I liked the splash ending, my only complaint is that its a little too slow and a little too short for me.

Well...
The mountain looks good, they must have put alot of work into just this 1 ride. I rode at night, so it looked much better and scarier. Going into the dark cave not knowing whats next is wicked. I dont think its worth the wait, so go late at night, when the crowds are thinner, and you ll get one hell of a ride. Also the mountain echos the screams so it sounds very scary from outside. Not a bad ride overall

It would be better if the ride wasnt a roller coaster, but a real bobsled. Thats kind of hard to do but its much more original that way

I love this rollercoaster mainly for two reasons.1st: Its the most importaint steel coaster there is because its the first and 2nd: It was my first rollercoaster.I rode it when I was two years old because there was no hight limit.I just sat in my moms lap; afterwords I had nightmares for YEARS of the abomitable snowman.LOL
