Definitely a memorable ride. The Predator is located in the back of park near one of the lakes or large ponds. The layout looks interesting at first glance, so in line I was pretty excited. While in line I found a monument to park vandalism. The Great Gum Shrine of Darien Lake. Pretty gross. Even if it is kind of funny it shows the staffs disregard for keeping their park clean. On to the ride, about three-quarters the way up the 95 lift hill the train came to an abrupt stop. Quite a few riders immediately freaked out. Having been in this situation before I was calm and figured the coaster would move in a few moments. It didnt. Finally, after a long ten or fifteen minutes the ride cranked back up and we were on our way. The result was a bumpy, sluggish, painful, terribly paced ride. Maybe one day in the past this was a great ride, but this ride has aged terribly. This ride has earned my "coveted" wrecking ball award as it has absolutely nothing positive to offer. I take that back. Like the other reviewers have said, it looks like fun, but its way too painful and just unenjoyable. Heres hoping SFDL re-tracks or rennovates this coaster. Final Rating - 2.0 (Horrible)
The worst wooden coaster Ive ever been on. Bumpy as hell, no air, awkward speed changes, rickety, ugh. Theres nothing to like about this monstrosity.
Interesting layout, but the wait is too long. It turns out they have been having braking problems this summer. The train can not exit the station until the previous train is stopped on the brake run coming into the station. However, the ride ops should still be able to get each train out the station sooner. There is no reason why they should not be ready release the loaded train as soon as the prior run hits the final brakes. But that is when the lock the lap bars and just start checking seat belts Especially when one of the train has two of the rows locked down. Good air on the first 4 drops with the 3rd one tossing you to the side also. If you are not careful the seatbelt can be driven right into your stomach. The 2nd half of the ride is very weak compared to the first half
This is an awful woodie, and it currenlty holds a spot in my bottom three woodies, with tow other crappy Dinn & Summers "masterpieces", Psucklone and Mean Streak. The ride has very little good going on for it, but I will look at the bright side first.
The setting near the lake is ok I suppose, and the lift gives you a nice view of the park, and better yet, Superman, which you should ride instead of wasting your time on this POS. On the way up be sure to make your plans to pick which seat on Superman you want, youll want to think about the joys of coaster life as long as you can before the hell breaks loose. The wood looked cool, I like wood lattice
The ride is horrendous. It is a rough as those brave men were personified at San Juan Hill. The track just does not give, and the ride doesnt give you much of a break to recouperate. This is some of the worst tracking in existence on a ride with PTCs. There is little airtime, if you want to call that spine-numbing sensation of being thrown slightly out of your seat while into the seat divider (or side) airtime. The ride is pretty slow too, at least I though.
This piece of crap needs a lot of help before I will step on it again. The best part about my second visit to the park was seeing it closed for the day. A three is probably as good of a score as I can justify giving it.. but I have been convinced that a two will do.
this ride was great, went on it 4 times today
I thought it was nice....alot of airtime...a little too jerky though.
I like wooden coasters but this one was pretty rough. It was still okay though.
I love woodies, but from my past experience, give this one a wide berth. I rode it in 2001, near the back of the train. I love being thrown up and down and side to side, but The Predator doesnt behave like other woodies - it throws you forward and backward. Every single hill where there should have been generous airtime, instead I was slammed gut-first into the lap bar. The fact it sat closed when surrounded by huge Halloween crowds (October 2003) speaks volumes. Do you think Six Flags is trying to cut their losses?
well i guess its not terrible but its stupid how they run one train empty and how u have to sit in the front or else it hurts.
The Predator is fun and you get Air-time on the hills, you just have to sit in the front though. If you sit in the back, this ride is very bumpy/painful, and the air-time cant be enjoyed.
