This isnt really that fun of a ride. Its fun, dont get me wrong, but it just doesnt wow me. Mabey Im just expecting more from it. Anyhoo, The reason Im giving this a 9 instead of a 6 is because this coaster is all about the themeing, which disney is known worldwide for, POSSOMS RULE!
Im a thrill seeker yet I still liked this ride. The banked curves are the reason. TPC--its not a steel coaster, its wooden.
Oh, and by the way, a Disney suggestion to upgrade Thunder is with the part with the falling rocks, I think it would be better to add a falling sound when the car leaves that area.
As one of my first coasters, it did not fail to please me. It has great theming and is great for the crowd generally made up of families with younger children that Disney attracts. Its not meant for thrillseekers so dont be disappointed that it doesnt have huge drops.
As a "Magic Kingdom Ride" Id rate this a "10", but since I have to rate it against all of the other coasters I had to give it an 8. For whom it is for (kids and adults alike) and all of the great detail and theming this is an awesome ride. The best is when youre on the highest climb and the Liberty Belle is going by--Ya wave and scream and everybody waves back from the river and takes your picture. Its AWESOME!
Like Space Mountain, great theming turns a relatively lame track design into a fun and exciting ride. I didnt have the best of days at Disney that day. In addition to my little Pirates of the Carribean mishap, I lost my wallet on big thunder. Park staff was kind enough to find it for me.
The theme and scenery are great, the station is the most creative design I have ever seen, I love the old artifacts stationed throughout the boarding platform, and the music playing adds to the whole western setting.(It was neat to hear the theme to "Old Yeller" playing as we boarded the train. The ride itself is fun for the most part. The sweeping turns and smooth ride are a big plus, the three lift hills which cut into the pacing are a minus. In addition long trains on short hills take alot of the runaway feeling that a mine train coaster should have. Sitting in the middle or rear will give you better loft on the hills. While this is a family ride, Im sure not too many people would have been scared away had they designed the ride a bit longer in track layout and designed the ride to be able to travel without the aid of the two extra lifts. But all in all this ride is a pleaser.
Great overall ride last time i rode it on e-ride night. There was an absolute downpour and then lighting in the area. After they started it up you could still see lighting in the distance. Man what a great effect. Better at night because of the extremely hot line.
Its an okay ride. Not thrilling, but it jerks you around alot. If I remember right, the only big difference from the DL one was some of the theming. The track design was pretty much the same. One of the best themed rides that there are.
I rode at night so I think I missed some of the effects like the falling rocks.
Fun little mine train that concentrates on laterals rather then any real drops. Theming is great and the indoor portions add a nice touch. Fastpass reccomended
