Average aviator, but these just arent my favorite ride out there. This has a horrid capacity, but the ride looked great. Views were non-existant on this one, but it did travel at a decent speed throughout and it had a really long cycle. There was no movement though by the cars.
I walked right on due to no one being in the park and it offered a pretty good ride, for something themed towrd kids. However it was also a onr time experience and I dont see myself waiting for this the next time I go.
I had a pretty bad experience on this ride last year. I was just about to leave to have lunch, but I decided to give this ride a spin. There was absolutely no one in front of me, but a completely un-enthusiastic ride opp took 15 minutes to get me on the ride alone! It seemed to take another 15 to get the ride started. It provides a decent view from up above the trees, but the ride seems repetitive and doesnt have much substance. And of course, there is the bad loading that really brought down my experience. The one plus is you do go up pretty high. It seems to be just about as tall as the nearby Shockwave, which is listed at 95 feet.
Over the past few years, Chance aviators have been popping up at parks across the country to less than stellar reviews amongst theme park enthusiasts, citing their lack of intensity and entertainment. But I always denied that, since from the photos and video I had seen of the attraction it looked like a neat, thrilling flat. So I finally got to ride one during my visit to Kings Dominion, and it’s too bad that everyone else is right. In fact, they probably enjoyed it more than I did. Yeah, it was that bad!
Located in Nickelodeon Central, the Space Surfer stands out with its vibrant orange paint scheme and its towering height over everything else. Well, maybe except for the lush trees surrounding the attraction. Now I wasn’t anticipating bad lines at all for this since it appeared like it would have a high capacity. Too bad it was only operating at half capacity and when combined with dreadfully slow loading, I saw up to an hour wait for this family-friendly attraction. Thankfully it was a walk-on later, but beware since this definitely has the potential to have unbearable waits as I witnessed first hand.
I wish I could say that the ride itself redeemed the attraction, but it in fact added insult to injury. Now I was expecting that the attraction would provide some decent views from the apex of the tower; however, the restrictive over-the-shoulder restraints obstructed my view significantly. Also, the ride completely lacked any thrills since it was run at such a slow speed that no forces whatsoever were capable of being produced, leading to a dull, uneventful ride. Oh yeah and regarding the rudder that supposedly alters the path of the vehicles, it did nothing at all for me. The cycle surprisingly wasn’t excessively short, but the ride was so poor that I just wanted to get off.
The Nickelodeon Space Surfer, while certainly an interesting concept and visually appealing to the eye, is simply an abysmal attraction that provides no enjoyment or thrills at all. Plus throw in the wretched capacity and you’ve got truly an elite, stand-out attraction that is probably one of the worst all-around attractions I’ve ever ridden. And there’s no way I could possibly recommend this flat-out awful attraction to you, since this park just has so much more to offer.
