this was a great ride. we rode it backwards and it was just a lot of fun becasue you didnt know what was coming. not so intense with so many flips and loops like all the fancy new ones, but still great fun. a great classic coaster.
Poor, poor Collosus. If Magic Mountian would just pay a little more attention to any other ride in the park besides thier latest rollercoaster, maybe this ride wont look like its passed its prime. Its hade the same coat of paint since like 1991 & the trains and track could use a little re-profiling. I hate to see this marvelous wooden wonder perish do to lack of care.
This is a great ride where you can just raise your hands and shout! This Was the last ride I went on when I left SFMM, and ill tell ya it felt good being able to raise my hands because on every thing else I was going way to fast that gravity was pulling my hands down to my feet! So, yeah its a good ride to go on at the end of the day!
Colossus is an average wooden coaster. It is cool in the fact that its a racer, but they dont race anyway. I do like it for the height and the 1st drop has some good speed, but other than that, its kinda lame. Then again, I prefer tight twists and helixes and stuff like that. Alright for a 25 year old giant- and there is some decent airtime on the smaller hills.Twenty woodies later Collossus will get docked a point. Ive been on better woodies and better racers since, and this one wont be screaming "Ride me again" when I go back. I dont recall anything spectacular, other than getting stuck on the brake run and receiving a free second ride
This was one of my favorite wooden coasters.
My second favorite ride in the park. Its a classic, and well, I just love it. The drops give some nice air time, and its nice and looooong. Fun fun fun, and suitable for the younger set looking for thills.
Good ride. Its not as bad as a lot of people say it is, it isnt that rough and still gives good air in lots of spots. Nice length too.
This is the symbol of the park. When you think Magic Mountain, you think Colossus. Good grief, theres a model of the coaster on the entrance sign. You have to give it some extra points for being an icon. But overrall it is one of the best woodies out there. I think I got more air time on this coaster than on any other wooden coaster I have ever been on.
Cool ride in comparison to other wooden coasters. Not too jerky. Pretty smooth for wood. Complete classic Ride this everytime you go to SFMM.
Once billed as the worlds tallest coaster, youve got to love or at least respect Colossus. Time and trim brakes have taken their toll and theres little to savor in what remains. The Gs at the bottom of every hill are fairly intense, perhaps shwoing their age in terms of engineering (newer woodies feel more graceful in the dips). You could have a tea party during the turn-arounds and the long brake run is total climax-interruptus. Still, its a thing of monstrous beauty and for a guaranteed thrill, ride the front car: you will fly up and out of your seat so violently at the top of the hill after the first drop, youll laugh the rest of the way.
